He was funny. In a hypothetical Joe Louis vs Mike Tyson matchup, I want George Foreman as one of the announcers.

    What fights did he announce?

Foreman always came out with some very insightful commentary and then come up something hilarious. I remember during the Terry Norris-Brett Lally World title fight he said the immortal words that Brett Lally was not lollygagging! He was right, Lally always came to win (beat Robert Hines,Art Sewano and Tyrone Trice) but Norris at his best was a beast It´s at 23:22:

Agree completely, his commentary gets way too much flack

Personally i thought he was awful, he was ridiculously biased towards some fighters, such as ODLH and refused to give credit to others, such as Hopkins, his commentary in Hopkins/Trinidad was just laughable.

I thought George’s commentary gave good insight into how Foreman thought as a fighter.

A guy would be getting completely outclassed and he’d say something like, ‘One good right hand can turn this fight and he’s right back in it.’ I think when George didn’t have things going his way when he was fighting, he was thinking exactly that … and for him it was true!

Way too many. It was arguably worth it just to see Larry Merchant's face or hear his exasperation when George talked more nonsense. It was the basically 'can't miss idea', that missed. Still, it was always good for a laugh.

Correct. Check out Jimmy Young vs Ron Lyle II for a very early example. George had decided that Ron should win (after all, he'd call Ron the 'other' best heavyweight in the world in 1974) and nothing would deter his commentary from thinking this.
