I disagree. Calzaghe is way too smart to get knocked out against Jones. He has a great chin, has never really been in trouble in the ring, and will win a comfortable decision by out-hustling Jones. Defensively he's very smart, and won't let Jones settle into a good rhythm, similarly to what Hopkins tried with JC. Afterwards, he'll retire undefeated having been a world champion for 10 years plus, leaving all his haters to ***** making themselves sound more ridiculous by the day.

    :rofl

    Get used to it!

A 44 year old hit Calzaghe at will with counter right hands and took him very very close. If he'd have been young enough to have the stamina to follow up those counters he'd have KO'd Calzaghe. Jones can follow it up, whereas Bernard Hopkins would clinch after landing his one-shot counters, Jones will land a 3-punch combination, then stick his tongue out and wiggle his arse around just to underline the point that he is the superior fighter.

Where do I mention RJJ will KO Calzaghe ? No where ! I'm saying for the last time on this thread that Jones will effectively and precisely counter Calzaghe all night long ! The difference with Jones and Hopkins is that Jones will bring more power in his punches and therefore Calzaghe will not commit as easily to throw his usual 80 + punches per round !! Calzaghe likes to come inside in all his fights and will not commit to it as much because of that power factor...

Don't use all your kleenex for masturbation prior to November 8th..cause on that day you'll need them to wipe the tears off your silly face when your boy Calslappy will runs out of effective slaps !!!

Not descrediting Roy at all RealIzm and I do consider the way RJJ got back to his corner and discussed with his trainer what was Tito tryin to do - means that Jones has superior ring smarts and strategic wisdom and can find a pattern in his opponent's approach. But there should be a borderline between what you figure out and what you can execute. Joe puts a lot of pressure and he is very coordinated and active with both hands and feet. Consider that Jones will not feint, sidestep or stalk him so he has to use his back legs... and we know he can't use his back legs faster than Joe can use his forward movement and thus, Jones finds himself leaning back on the ropes like against Hanshaw, Prince Badi and early against Tito... Jones in that position ( leaning back and blocking shots with both gloves and arms) has defense but cannot counter unless joe finds himself outa position and stumbling forward. Clean, effective punching goes to Jones but Joe's workrate is not immaterial since that has been his major argument to win rounds - volume and not connect rates - I realy, really think that Nard's and Kessler's blistering right hands could have been Joe's death when he puts his head in front and squares up... Maybe Jones' leading left hook out of nowhere can catch Joe open and cold but I still think it's highly unlikely.

I don't know if he'll win, but I do expect Jones to have a better showing than most people expect.

i am a big rjj fan and there is no fighter i would like to see beaten more than joe calzaghe (and if he were knocked out, so much the better)

having said that, when i look at this matchup objectively, i really dont envision a scenario where roy will be beating joe

joe has been competing against a much higher level of competition than roy the last few years and has looked better doing it... i do agree roy looked good in spots against tito but tito was meant to make him look good... tito hasn't been considered a legitimate fighter since his last "retirement" after winky wright took him to school... and really, tito probably hasn't been a p4p type fighter since his first retirement after hopkins destroyed him and that was like right after 9/11... 2001!!!

it's 2008... the last time roy has fought anyone "world class" was antonio tarver in their 3rd fight and roy did show flashes of brilliance in it but that was 3 years ago or more plus for the rest of the fight, he showed no heart and no gameness whatsoever

at this point, i'm just hoping the fight is close and that roy doesnt get embarrassed

so that's what my head is saying... but my heart is saying PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD ROY and not the old roy we have now but the OLD ROY that y'all must've forgot , mr. unstoppable, mr. unknockoutable, etc...

I just see this fight in the same perspective a I was seeing the Cotto-Margarito fight. It's a matter of perception on the whole, not just analyzing mentally the pros and cons of who wins...

Cotto had almost everything for him going into the fight (speed, natural boxing ability, movement and credentials to that point). Nevertheless, I knew Margarito would eventually overwhelm Cotto and it was just a matter of time in the fight.

Between Calzaghe and Jones, I see Calzaghe feeling the power of Jones' counter shots way too often for him to fight his usual very active fight. You see, Jones has quicker hands than Calzaghe and although he throws much less at this point, he is still extremely precise with enough pop in his punches to make his opponents think before unleashing their shots getting in. That's exactly what will happen with Calzaghe...Jones will throw him off his game as Calzaghe will be more careful to let his hands go in order to prevent powerful fast counters !!
