why does it seem that Usyk never gets caught with a major shot

Usyk is very experienced and compared to a lot of the bigger heavyweights is a smaller and more elusive target.

 

Usyk has a radar in his head knowing where the line is and to stay off it at all times. Fury is the same.

Main reason Fury had success is he's so unorthodox, long with weird angles and timings. A top tier unique boxer...just like Usyk himself.

 

Maybe because he never brawls.

 

Cause he is a good boxer

 

He moves side to side a lot which makes it less likely he will be caught moving forward.

He did get caught with a huge straight right to the head vs Joshua in round 10 of their second fight and while it hurt, his chin is good enough to survive it.

 

Because he's a level above everyone else in the division. Simple.

Because he's an elite level defensive fighter. Had a far better amateur pedigree than Joshua aswell

 

He does get hit - right out of my head I can recall examples of Fury's uppercut and Gassiev's right hand.
He does have a solid chin though and good recovery abilities.

 

Fury was knocked down what, eight times in his career? Half of those was against Wilder who is the clumsiest guy with terrible balance and technique. And Wallin cut him really badly. Usyk landed several big power punches on his head as early as the first two rounds. This notion that Fury is some HW Mayweather who can’t be hit in the head in nonsense.

 

He not a (now) typical gigantic lumbering HW with poor head movement and footwork.

 

Fury gets complacent, Usyk does not. To throw that 1,2 on Usyk was horrible.

 

Usyk can be hit but he does well to evade taking the full power and is ready for what will follow the punch.
