Dubois vs AJ - Video Post Fight Review

Great work Rummy. Analysis on point and I enjoyed the overview of the scene for Dubois's options also.

Well done Sir! Genuinely shocked at how bad AJ was. Chin up in the air with his hands down. It's frustrating because Dubois isn't a difficult puzzle to solve. He can be beat by guys like Parker and Bakole.

 

Quasimodo definitely did not predict this.

No lucky punch as Dubois saw the opportunity and pulled the trigger. You could say AJ was unlucky to get hit with that punch in the first round. It nearly took his chin clean off. It was a much better shot than the one that counted him out.

Joshuas other problems was being detached mentally and frozen stiff with nerves.
Pity he didn't have mcracken in his corner cos he did a great job of relaxing Froch in the same stadium. Davidson didn't have the psychological fight game experience to help Joshua mentally

I agree with this to an extent, but only partially - the big bomb in round 1 was disastrous for Joshua, but Dubois was tagging Joshua with that ramrod jab multiple times before the haymaker landed, and Joshua looked like he was re-treating into gunshy mode anyway - the bomb just accelerated things IMO and reduced AJ's ability to mount any return offense.

The blueprint on how to tame Joshua has been there since the first Usyk fight, where Usyk tagged him with a clear solid jab in 15/20 seconds, claiming centre ring and putting Joshua on the back foot, nullifying his offense. Contrast this to the Wallin fight, were AJ was able to settle into a rythym without having to think about defence much.

 

I’m pretty sure Quasimodo predicted all this

 

Will have to agree to disagree there - Dubois WAS CLEARLY outboxing AJ before the haymaker - he was on him from the off, conecting with the jab - sometimes double jabbing, and AJ was instantly on the back foot and reticent.

Sure Femi's wits were probably scrambled in round 2 and it allowed Dubois to get more offense off, but he was tagging with the jab at will, and I think would have walked AJ onto something big anyway, because AJ had his chin out, was leaning back and had his hands down - which is how he was tagged in the 1st place!
