God, I ****ing love the Joshua resume bashing here. It´s just pure hypocrisy. No one is even able to articulate who in the division has a good division or better than Joshua´s.
The most someone managed is to say that Fury and Usyk have better resumes. If only 2 guys have better resumes, and Joshua has a poor one, then wtf have rest of the division done?

 

I haven't bashed his resume, I said it doesn't stack up, which you agreed with.

But you're asking a very strange question, AJ is one of the standout heavyweights of the past decade, his resume should be superior to most others in the division.

Usyk and Fury have a better resume. Parker has a very similar resume. The rest, as you should expect have a worse resume.

I guess I don't understand your overall point. AJ does not have that impressive a resume, and most other heavyweights have a resume which is even less impressive. Where is the hypocrisy?

 

I am talking about in comparison to those who had their careers at the same time as him. Joshua constantly fought the top contenders yet his resume is labeled as poor. Yet he has steadily fought more top contenders than anyone else.

 

Watching it back, the only way I can describe it is a clobbering. It was an absolute clobbering.

 

No one thinks Wilder or anyone who's worse than AJ has a better resume.

But when all is said and done, does AJ have that impressive a resume? No. He doesn't.

 

But he has a good resume for his time. Yet so many, so often say that his resume is poor. You don´t really see that with other heavyweights.

You won't remember this but when AJ first came along he was touted as the next great HW. So he gets compared accordingly. Basically they hold him to a higher standard than you do, which is fine, it's a subjective sport. He wants to be held to a high standard.

 

Hrgovic ended up doing better than we thought considering he landed a lot more power shots and more cleanly than AJ landed.

 

Yeah, the Joshua resume bashing has always seemed odd to me when looked at in the context of his rivals.

The fact of the matter is that nearly all active HW's have sub standard resumes due to the fact that until Turki rocked up on the scene, the top HW's spent most of their time avoiding each other.

This isn't a HW exclusive problem, either. Boxing over the past 10 years or so has been more about good, quality fights not being made than good, quality fights being made.

 

He was touted as the next great HW by his promoter, Eddie Hearn, and by the people who worked for Sky, who, considering Eddie was exclusive to Sky at the time, might as well have been on Eddie's payroll.

This is what promoters and their network affiliated lackeys do. I've always seen this being a strategy employed by promoters that is solely targeted at the casual fan. The type of fan who is easier to hoodwink. I didn't think actual boxing fans took it seriously.

Joshua shouldn't be held to a higher or lower standard than his peers.

What a demolition by Dubois. Joshua looks finished at the top level. I am glad loudnouth Fury loses out on a big payday against AJ. I would gladly pay to see Fury-Dubois, but, I doubt Fury has the guts to take that fight at this point.
