I've got to say, the guy is motivational (not an angel or perfect, mind). He was down and out a few years ago. Matchroom FC with all its social media bots and youtube brown nosers + Sky giving them a monopoly + them getting AJ post-olympics looked like it had killed off Frank. Hearnz Jnr was blatantly trying to finish Frank and was always smugly twisting the knife in. To see Frank turn things around is really amazing. Last night's fight was like a live play of how he's been smashing Hearnz the past few years. I reckon coming up and surviving in the golden era of London gangland activity gave him a type of grit that you can't learn. Imagine how many tough situations and shady guys he had to deal with in the 70s-80s. Eddie the silver spoon bully boy is nothing in comparison.
I guess we'll see. The Hearn family seem to want to build a steadily-growing sustainable business to protect or enrich their kids; Warren clearly looks out for himself too but has always seemed a bit more steeped in boxing and sustaining the sport from the grass roots upwards. He might have had the sideline of the London Arena, promoting Sinatra and all that, but never resorted to fishing and ping pong as easy TV money.
When Matchroon moved to DAZN in an attempt to take over the world, they took their eye off the domestic scene and left the door open for Frank to get back in the game. Queensbury have an excellent stable now and the future looks bright, Dubois seriously made a name for himself beating AJ, they've got Itauma and Sheraz waiting in the wings and expected to do great things, they've got some potential with Noakes and McCann.
2017ish he looked done. Fair play to old Frank, it’s been one hell of a comeback. If I was a young UK prospect I’d be signing with Warren 100%.
Yarde's decision to leave him at this point is so weird. I reckon Tunde's got in his head. This is the time to be with Frank, where you're getting nice tax free 7 figure cheques from his eminence. Maybe him and Tunde weren't happy with having to fight young hungry lions for the Saudi money, as Turki seems strict in that sense.
Warren got him Beterbiev to give him a voluntary world title shot in his hometown. I don’t know what else he wants?
If Frank Warren leaves TNT Sports in favor of DAZN then I fear they will end up in the same situation as Matchroom. Matchroom's UK stable is very thin and almost non-existent.
100% he is. He has seen it all before many many times and always comes out on top, if he fell in the thames he would emerge with a salmon in his mouth. Under estimate him at your peril.
Have to admire the belief he's had in Dubois, thrown him into two back to back fights as an underdog and he's come out the other side with his stock sky high. Put in against Joyce at 23 and Usyk at 25 so Frank has always backed Daniel. To think he now has Fury, Zhang, Wardley, Itauma too. Even with Joyce vs Zhang, he left with the winner - think after Joyce gets KO'd in the rematch you can see him mouth to George next to him "told you". Fair play to old Bricktop!
Correct. It'll go into most boxers limited companies where they'll pay Corp Tax, and eventually Income tax on it
Or if they're with Matchroom, it'll get spent on a few flats to give them a property empire for retirement They all seem to do it!
I'd do it too! I checked out AJs companies on Companies House two days ago. Very very impressive bank balance and property portfolio he's got.
