For his health no, but for his career no as well. He could build himself back up, he has time because he keeps himself in excellent condition. Plan: Fight and KO some binman. Then a semi-bum with limited credibility like Vianello or even a shot Wilder. Then fight a fringe contender that you match well with stylistically. Don't fight Zhang, Miller, Hrgovic, Bakole or any other big-hitting ramrod jab type guys, instead fight Kabayel or Parker or similar (still very high risk fights but hey-ho). If he is still on an "AJ is back to his best" type run, then he can fight a 37/38 year old Fury, probably win because Fury will likely be completely shot by then, and retire. Or fight a 40/41 year old Usyk, and maybe win maybe not, redemption potential, then retire. More likely outcome is that his handler will force him into the rematch with Dubois and cash-out AJ because Matchroom don't have time to wait around for their cash cow to rebuild his career AGAIN.
Absolutely not! Since 2019, after outpointing an obese 300lbs Ruiz, AJ has just 4 wins, Franklin, Helenius, Wallin and Ngannou. The 'rebuild' was as careful as could be, and the second he fought someone decent, he got annihilated. It's funny watching the post fight interviews about how that punch at the end of the first, if he avoided that he could've won, or how he had Dubois in trouble in the 4th and 5th, like he was on the verge of an amazing comeback. Truth is, if that punch in the 1st round comes 20 or 30 seconds earlier, he gets KO'd in the 1st. AJ should look for one big payday against Fury now, if that doesn't materialise just call it a day. The rebuild failed, a second rebuild will also fail. Just chance your hand against Fury, get a last payday and enjoy your millions.
No, he’s made hundreds of millions, and if he gets out now, he hasn’t taken too much damage, if he fights Dubois again and takes the same again, he may have then taken too much and it’s not worth it.
Yes at this point in his career what else is he going to do? Another lengthy rebuilding process? He already did that. If he doesn’t take the Dubois rematch next his chance to be the top dog at the division is gone. Dubois next. Or he can fight Zhang or Fury for high profile fights and call it a day after that.
That's what I do, Jack. If somebody incurs my wrath I'm not only coming for them I'm coming for their loved ones, their pets, their crops, their livestock etc.
Yes AJ should take it. He should make the champion come in first again He should also allow himself another rematch clause while not allowing the champion one. In the face off Dubois asked Joshua 'who do you think you are?' I'm beginning to see why now, Joshua coming in 2nd and the champion coming in first was an absolute disgrace to 140 years of boxing history and tradition.
When AJ lost 12-0 to Usyk he didn't look like he deserves a rematch but he was the champ so OK I guess? Now he was a challenger and lost every round before he got KTFOed by the reigning champ - where's the argument for a rematch? Wasn't even remotely close. This is not a playoff series. Did he give Jo Parker a rematch? Did he give any of the guys he beat ever a rematch? He's holding up the division, especially in this era where they are fighting once every blue moon.
No Anthony Joshua shouldnt rematch Daniel Dubious. He should fight a tune up and then fight Fury regardless of what happens next in the Fury vs Usyk rematch
TBH as someone who picked Joshua to beat Dubois, I think he should retire. I know in the aftermath Joshua said he is a "warrior" who will keep fighting on, but you have to wonder whether that is what he wants or if he is simply trying to conform to others perception of him. I'm sure he has a grotesque amount of zeros in his bank account, so why risk permanent CTE fighting on simply to assuage others?
