Ron Lyle vs George Foreman. Hmm. What are your HONEST answers? Please watch before voting.

    Daniel Dubois vs Anthony Joshua.

My argument is that Dubois wins because of his superior technique and size. Notice how Dubois has an active offensive strategy while Foreman and Lyle stand in front of each other with their arms wide open out in the air. Notice how they have terrible instincts and let the other fighter dive in at them. Notice how Joshua and Dubois step back instantly after throwing a punch. Foreman and Lyle sit in the pocket, which against competent boxers would allow a counter strike.

Notice Dubois' superior athleticism and body fat percentage.

I'd like to discuss other patterns in their techniques, but won’t right now, because I don't want the post to be too long. If any of you have TECHNICAL contributions, I'd like to hear.

All four of those boxers TECHNICALLY speaking are pretty average in the history of boxing, none are Joe Louis.

You might be setting your standards a bit too high if to be above average in technique you need to be on the level of Joe Louis.

Yeah but that’s not what I’m saying, just that they aren’t that good.

Ok let me try to understand what you're saying then, by your standards which heavyweights ARE "that good"? Besides Louis of course.

Brother, I said history of boxing, I didn’t say heavyweights - boxing. But I’ve got some guys that come to mind… but where are you going with this? What do you want to tell me?

I was fairly up front that I was just trying to figure out what you were saying because I genuinely didn't understand. This isn't some gotcha. I apologize for thinking you meant only heavyweights but in my defense the thread is about 4 heavyweights and the only other example you gave was a heavyweight.

Overall when you look at heavyweight boxing compared to the whole history… meaning no disrespect, heavyweights are bigger guys it’s hard to move as much and some fluidity is a bit lost in translation… when you’re 220-260lbs that happens technically speaking none of those guys are that special even as HWs I can think of 10 guys without thinking who are a LOT better technically…. Tunney, Dempsey, Lennox, Wlad, Charles, Louis, Walcott, Marciano, Holmes, Moore, Schemlimg, Byrd, Toney, Holyfield, Tyson, Sharkey…

Thanks! I understand what you mean now. I think I mostly agree with that line of thinking with some exceptions. Apologizes for any confusion.

Yeah, it’s okay man, don’t stress it. What exceptions? let’s keep talking.

I think it's a bit premature to put Dubois in with Foreman.

Foreman only beat 2 guys above 215lbs in there prime who were any good, Lyle and Norton and I don’t think they translate well today, one almost killed him and the other one was a bit specialised. If Dubios beat AJ, Miller and Hrgovic, with the fights he’s had in the 70s… he’d be a worthy opponent.

True but once Joshua gets hurt he has very little recovery ability, he reminds me a lot of Oleg Maskaev in that way.
