Should Joshua activate the rematch clause? (POLL)

He should activate a chin and temples transplant from Tex Cobb, Chuvalo, McCall or Old Foreman.

 

On one hand, AJ was knocked down multiple times by Ruiz and ultimately lost that first fight by KO, and then came back in the rematch and unquestionably defeated Ruiz in the (incredibly boring) rematch. So, beating Dubois may not be a completely impossible scenario for AJ.

On the other hand, Dubois isn't a lazy tub of lard like Ruiz. Also, since the Ruiz fight AJ is 5 years older with 3 more defeats on his record. His durability has taken a hit, and whatever power he possesses it didn't seem to phase Dubois. (He may have gotten a couple decent shots on Dubois in round 5, but Dubois seemed to shake it off rather quickly.)

I honestly don't see AJ beating Dubois. The only other path i'd see for AJ getting a belt anytime soon would be if he waits for Dubois to take on the winner of Fury vs Usyk, and hope that Dubois loses. Then AJ takes on that winner, and ideally that would be Fury, for AJ's sake.

But honestly, what else is there for AJ? Does he really wanna risk even more losses by taking on anyone else in the top 10 and blowing perhaps one last opportunity for a title shot? Or does he waste everybody's time by taking on someone mid level? Obviously, he's filthy rich, but nonetheless it's a challenging position to be in if he cares about his future career.

 

From a fan perspective, absolutely not. I am sick of rematches and the fight was as decisive as can be. I'd much rather see a fresh match up form both.

From AJ's perspective, yes. This would be the best money, and he has nothing to lose. AJ's reputation is already down the dumpster. Another loss won't lower his reputation any, and a win will make him the IBF champion with a rubber match for big money. If AJ wants to "rebuild" he could do that after losing again.

 

He should stay very far away from Dubois. Don't even look his way. Run if Dubois walks towards him. That's the type of beatdown that only gets worse in a rematch.

It doesn't matter if Hearn thinks there is a rematch clause or if Warren insists there is not. There will be a rematch if his excellency tells them to make one and if Joshua actually wants it.

AJ has serious issues here...not sure how much is mental and how much is physical but he needs some sort of rehabilitation by somebody with some sort of competence in dealing with mentally damaged fighters. His attitude still seems to be all over the place.

 

If it was a lucky punch I wouldn't be against the rematch but Dubois beat him up badly.

 

He should. If he loses, retire.

AJ got KO'ed by Ruiz and that basically made him scared shitless of being KO'ed again. That is the reason he was just looking at Dubois stupid, he was so scared of being KO'ed and he got KO'ed anyway. For money he can do the rematch, for boxing sake, no.

I haven't seen Dubois fight ( kill me) so I picked Joshua because I've seen Joshua fight. I didn't watch the PPV,but from the first 30 seconds I noticed that Dubois had better fundamentals than AJ.

At first I thought AJ was better than Wilder, but now, I've started to realized that AJ got as far as he did off of Athletisim more than anything as did Wilder.

In boxing you have two parts, Athletism and Fundamentals. Athletism can completly overshadow fundamentals,but as you age, you become more and more reliant on fundamentals, and when you have no fundamentals, you get counter hit in the 5th round without an ability to stand up on your feet using your head as support.

I saw it in the Usyk fight too, AJ is like Wilder, except with more punches than a straight right.

 

Yes, he should. AJ has always done better in rematches.
There is no reason for a true champion to turn down a rematch after being KO'd like this.
Remember, he's a warrior boxer, so at least 'go out on your shield'. Anything else is a duck if he doesn't retire immediately. He would be running from Daniel Dubois, the 'young lion'.
Why does everyone want to protect these fighters? Not a day goes by where they don't try to claim to be the bravest people in society, doing stuff 'civilians' wouldn't understand.
Stop running from challengers then and show us how to face adversity, win or lose.
