5 months after knee surgery can’t have been good for him. give him a full training camp and he stops Bivol no doubt about it. Bivol was nearly no mas’ing in the championship rounds
Hence no rematch should be necessary then. Would only shorten Bivol's career, he should move on. While Beterbiev fighting others would likely end via stoppage, so still fan-friendly.
I think that in the rematch Bivol will win more confidently, don’t forget that Beterbiev will turn 40 in January.
I think that Bivol used a lot of nervous energy at the start, over committed on a few occasions and ceded centre of the ring, neglecting his jab for spells. He has many things he could improve upon, and having gone 12 rounds - and many folks feeling he could have got the nod -might favour Dmitry for the rematch
That is what I'm interested in seeing. I felt like Beterbiev didn't look like himself until the later rounds. If he looked like that the majority of the fight Bivol might not go the distance. Was that because of Bivol? Inactivity? Age? Injury? We'll find out. Bivol is tough though. I gotta give him his respect. He took some shots that I thought he wouldn't be able to stand up to.
Rewatching the fight I gave Bivol the first 4 as well (not clear though). I think Beterbiev had a lot of success after that. I only gave Bivol one round (9th) after that. The 8th was kinda close with Bivol trying to steal it at the end with combos. A lot of those shots were blocked though. The 12th was close as well. On rewatch, scored it 7-5 for Beterbiev.
Possible. But Bivol can do a lot of improvement if he has the IQ to see it and the abiltiy to manifest it. But yes, I could see Artur winning better in a rematch. He really was in first gear quite a bit and had gas to spare at the end. Its interesting to ponder how the fight plays out had he went into second gear a couple of rounds earlier.
