Tyson would win the early rounds but from the mid rounds once Lewis settles in with his jab and hard right Tyson would slowly wilt to a late round KO
Yeah makes perfect sense. A guy that stopped training consistantly from young...went to jail for 3 years with a drink, drug and sex addiction reached his peak with jokers for a coaching team at points. Very good. Just not really worth arguing about tbh.
I think you're a bit simple as you can't grasp what I'm saying. I'm saying that with all the most dedicated training in the world, the best lifestyle and greatest coaches I don't think he would have been any better than he was when he was at his peak as world champion. He maxxed out what he could do. The only thing what you're saying would change is how long he was able to operate at that level.
Wrong, Lewis was dedicated professional, he always stayed in great shape, even against Rahman he wasn't fat, he was just unfocused. Even if he wasn't at his best for a couple of fights (out of 44) it doesn't make him lazy ass. Both Lewis and Tyson reached their respective peaks and maximized their potential, although in different age and for different period of times. Lewis stayed dedicated to boxing for much longer period though and therefore he is ranked higher in most ATG lists
That one did. What do you think he was going to do better? Become even more explosive? He maxed out his style. He never had the brain or physique to do anything other than what he did.
Always siding with Lewis but the overly-cautioness he showed in their actual match can backfire heavily if he not obtains Tyson respect immediately.
I agree, I think Tyson never really peaked,,he was simply seen at his best when he was 22. Had he actually peaked it would have been around the age of 27-29. The beating from Douglas in a sense exposed him , his style and limitations.
Agreed. He didnt reach his peak. Although not sure douglas exposed his limitations without trying to discredit busters win. Buster was good on his best days but what we seen was what happens at the top level when someone completely neglects their training....and the other one comes in peak performance. Was man against a boy that night. Douglas beat him good and proper. I still think a 22 year old tyson beats any version of lewis and holyfield but weight and height comes into play as lewis got heavier. Still would have put my money on tyson tho. Lewis showed how hesitant he would have been against peak tyson in beating the shell of tyson. All 3 great fighters tho.
In his prime Lewis almost lost to Bruno who was destroyed by Tyson twice. Sometimes Lewis lacked concentration and missed a beat. Prime Tyson vs Prime Lewis would have been a 60/40 or even 65/35 bout imo. So....I say: Tyson.
Lewis, because contrary to popular belief, he absorbed powerful shots just fine. The one punch KO that he got at the end of is not much else but a cautionary tale about what can happen if you don't take your opponent seriously. Chances of that happening vs a fighter as good as Tyson are zero. There is a decent chance Tyson gets some bombs in and KOs Lennox, but I think it's more likely Lewis survives some tough rounds and stops Tyson. Don't think it goes to cards, and the longer it goes the fewer chances Tyson has. Tyson has only one serious angle here, strong start and quick KO. But it's not enough to bank on it. An underrated scenario in such a fight is Tyson starting strong, exposing himself, with Lewis landing some good combinations early and stopping Tyson faster than expected. This is not typical for Lewis, as the cautious fighter he usually was, but if pushed to it, he could go to war also. Complete fighter really.
