Willie Pep had over 160 distance fights and aged pretty ok. Gavilan was winning Welterweight title fights after dozens and dozens of full length fights. The examples are endless.

John this guy has some very strange opinions like Young only being able to lose in a 15 round fight to an ATG despite losing to Norton over 15 who isn't an ATG. He also thinks Young is better than a prime Holyfield which i think ludicrous.

Am I being unfair here ? But some of these opinions are totally out there. Don't get me wrong Young was a good fighter but I don't think he was "that good".

@HistoryZero26 I'm not having a go at you but sometimes I'm left baffled by some of your opinions they make 0 sense to me.

Conceivable for sure. Just, if not more conceivable, judging by the votes (circa 70% in favour of The Divine Peanut at the time of typing

) Larry sees through those perilous early rounds, finds his rhythm, dominates the 2nd half of the fight with the jab (a jab exchange which is even in the first 4 rounds, a key strength for both). George then starts getting tired and frustrated, is sucking air like a fish out of water and on the verge of collapse from his own hit & miss exertions- he hits the deck in the 8th, the crowd not sure if it was a legit knockdown or a case of George just swinging and missing. The jab accuracy of Holmes remains consistent, and a a dazed and confused ("for so long it's not true") Foreman is rescued any time after the 12th.

Cue- the closing of the gap due to a mobilised alt-fest.

I'm half-joking with the post above. George has a shot, but I know if this fight really happened, in, say, a unification scenario after George beat Joe and Larry beat Kenny, I know I would bet on Holmes. As in virtually any 'Fighter A early' or 'Fighter B late" pick 'em fight, I almost always bet money on the latter.

I think the idea Norton isn't an ATG is "totally out there".

Holyfield is one of the most overrated fighters in the sports history IMO. Oh no I think someone who fought Foreman, Ali and Norton close is better than Evander Holyfield. What heresy.

You know I’ve had my complaints about this guy but honestly after the views in this thread, he’s moved up several places.

Admittedly rare for me, but i am channeling my inner Mike Cannon on this one. History is a nice bloke who never seems to get nasty and argue back and forth or get personal so i am loathe to say some of the things i normally might. His takes are loud enough to point themselves out all on their own.

Like I said, I have a lot more patience for his claims after seeing crap like Holmes out slugging Foreman…. And seeing it get five likes.

Yeah as a person he seems like a nice enough chap personality wise I have no issues with him it's just some of his views that have me scratching my head.
