My point was, he waited until he was 40 years old to move up to Super Middleweight (which usually isn't a great idea), and even then he still closed far stronger than Canelo and did better than pretty much any recent Canelo opponent aside from Bivol. Had he made the move a decade ago, gotten acclimated to the weight first before leaving to the deep end, I don't doubt he could've been a force. Granted Light Heavyweight might be a bridge too far.

It would be awful, though, because GGG is such a warrior he would keep going, taking a lot of punishment.

All good points I agree Super Middleweight may of been in his range but Light Heavyweight is probably out of his range as you said.

Golovkin is only 3 years older than Beterbiev who's also no longer in his prime.

His main asset was being able to bully his opponents and no way is he going to bully Beterbiev. In this case, the bigger man almost always comes out on top.

Threads like this truly enhance my reading enjoyment of this forum. It's like when one of my friend's kids goes on a drunken rant on their baby momma/daddy or someone yells that the "Moon is a hollow metal Space Station" on Facebook.

Thank you, OP. I truly appreciate your efforts to create entertainment for us all.

If we are using the power of imagination and imagining a 175lb version of Golovkin - then yes, he could do it. GGG is a fighter with a high level all-round skillset who I think had more arrows in his quiver than either of them. If we are talking pitching 160lb GGG against 175lb Beterbiev and Bivol, then nah, I don't think so. Bivol absolutely schooled Canelo like he owed him money, and its clear that the size difference was a big problem for ginger. Canelo simply didn't have the firepower to hurt him. I think Golovkin might give them a good fight but those extra 15lb are gonna be a problem for him too.

Bivol UDs Golovkin 10 out of 10.

Artur beats Golovkin 10 out of 10.

The only suspense in a Golovkin Beterbiev matchup is could Golovkin make the final bell or not. Would be interesting to see if Beterbiev could actually stop the iron chinned Golovkin.

Many LHWs hurt GGG, and beterbiev is one of them.

Hagler had an iron dome at 160lbs, but he wasnt gonna fight Spinks or Qawi.

    Weight classes.

    Swellllll everybody.

I know that's how you feel about it, but what about the age excuse? Were you one to point out that 35/36 yo GGG had lost a step, and 32/33 yo GGG would have "destroyed" Canelo? Remember all the excuses GGG fans had about "age" and how 35/36 was just too old? Despite this, you still said he won. But now you have near-40 Beterbiev just beating Bivol, and the consensus seems to be that the majority of fans think that was the wrong decision. But where's the outrage, where's the fans screaming bloody murder over judges like they were over GGG 1 and 2?

Or it is just that GGG fans were more invested in that and cared about wins and losses more than Beterbiev or Bivol fans? Perhaps that's the answer, that this forum just cared a hell of a lot more about GGG Canelo than they did about Beterbiev Bivol. Is that how you see it?

Canelo and Delahoya were avoiding GGG for 16 months after the Khan fight. The GGG vs Canelo fight was far bigger than the Beterbiev vs Bivol fight, so all involved and fallowing the lead up to the fight were more emotionally involved. It was obvious that Delahoya and the establishment had no entention of letting Canelo lose if at all possible. The delay definitely favored Canelo. He put on 10 lbs of muscle before the Chavez fight and aged GGG out a little longer. Prime Jacobs and Canelo were clearly GGG'S toughest apponents and in all fairness i thought GGG did enough to beat Canelo twice at the age GGG was at. If GGG got the decision's then that would be fair. To Canelo's credit he proved that he was the real deal and was unlike any other GGG apponent, Jacobs proved alot too. He was 100% dialed in on the night. Those fights were classics, just the results should be in reverse, or two losses for Canelo in classic fights. I can say this, the Canelo vs GGG fights aged extremely well. Canelo has become a legend.

I am a fan of Hagler. But the first time Spinks throws a power punch with mean intentions then Hagler's eyeballs would be coming out his skull. Spinks would punch straight through Hagler's guard.

Prime Beter - not 39 y/o from last week..say, the Beter from Gvodzyk night makes short night for GGG who DEF dont like bodywork and Beter eats that abdomen up
