He needs to change everything, first he needs to heal his head, mental state, then his team and his defence. He could train with soviet style coach
One of boxings biggest problems is the "he lost once so he's finished" or "he was absolutely blown out so he's finished" mindset/mythology. We have all, every single one of us, seen guys get blown out, battered, beaten decisively and go on to win world titles, hell in a number of cases become ATG's after being blown to the four winds. I think anyone, depending on how they retool, their comeback that was considered at one point a threat to a world champion has a possible chance at making a another run. I'm not even a fan of Tim (respect him, but not a fan), but I don't think he should just be written off like that. I will say, he needs a new team and needs to work on an abundance of things, but I won't say he's quite done................yet. Now I will say there are some guys that lose once, and you see how they lost and you know it's over for them, I didn't see that. He got blown out the water no doubt but he wasn't discouraged, he showed the same thing as Jared Anderson against Bakole. Getting destroyed but still trying to fire back. Foolish, but you can build off that.
He shouldn’t even be fighting Zerafa next, could get caught if the chin is now questionable. He can’t beat the top guys at 54, it’s a done a deal. It’s over
Agreed. There were a few detrimental things going on with Tszyu against Bakhram, too much ego combined with his refusal to adjust. When he got dropped the first time, I think his manhood took a serious hit, he couldn’t believe another boxer just did that to him, he was seriously insulted. Instead of going back to basics and regrouping, he chose to plough forward, trade in the pocket with his hands down against a quicker fighter who possesses the same power. He did that every time he got dropped. He knows how to control distance, he knows how to keep his hands up, he knows how to place his punches well. He did that well against the dangerous Mendoza, the same Mendoza who’d just flattened Fundora. He can make a comeback he’s only 29. He probably needs some sports psychology therapy and review his team/corner.
TT seems like a natural fighter to me, I don't see why he shouldn't come back he has plenty of time. He has proven over and over again that he is a real Warrior and when hurt his first instinct is to get the other guy back. Hopefully he will be able to calm this tendency in himself & concentrate more on defense.
Shouldn't have tried to fire back like that when he was that hurt. I felt bad for him during an interview I saw post fight, he looked devastated.
If he can’t beat Zerafa then he needs to hang them up. Zerafa is a very, very average fighter. Tim shouldn’t be going any lower than someone like that in truth. A guy with a half-decent looking W/L who can talk the fight up but in reality is a B level domestic journeyman…well that is Michael Zerafa.
He's lacking basic fundamentals. He has no jab or footwork. Crosses his feet and was never taught how to properly tie up when hurt. Reminds me of my old Rock em sock em Robots. If he wants to do anything it should be to relocate to the U.S. or U.K with a completely new corner. Needs a proper teacher to refine him and real him in a bit.
