We need unification at cruiserweight

There's a unification fight in a few weeks, Billam-Smith vs Zurdo. Hopefully the winner of that one (I'm going with Zurdo) fights Opetaia after that. Pretty sure the WBC just got vacated, it's two Don King fighters who are fighting over it soon, doubt King would be up for one of his boys doing a unification fight.

'Undisputed' is overrated anyway. Beating good opponents is more important than having all the belts. Obviously sometimes the best names will also have belts, but not always.

 

I want to see Opetaia in there with other champions

 

Opetaia is fulfilling his mandatory against Michael Eifert on December 11 in Australia before unifying against the winner of Zurdo Ramirez vs Billam-Smith in Riyadh next year, which could be on February 22.

 

When it’s all said and done Opetaia will have all the belts.

winner of Zurdo vs Billam Smith vs Beterbiev would also be nice.

If he managed to do it he would definetely enter the 6 best HWs ever after Lewis (5th) and overtaking Holmes, Holyfield and others.

 

Undisputed should happen in good time (when the money's right). Jai wants it, and the other fighters want it too. I think the fight needs some juice though, to make it a worthy top biller. Hopefully CBS is involved

 

Agreed, I'd much rather see Beterbiev vs Opetaia as a boring rematch with Bivol

Holmes lost to a cruiser like Spinks twice, he would lose to Usyk too.

 

Opetaia will be facing Huseyin Cinkara next. Where and when that takes place is at this point uncertain. But it does have to take place by Jan 20 according to the IBF.

 

Was he stripped of the WBC cw title? He's 40 now so maybe just putting his feet up and watching the boxing.
