My most magical moment out of a lot of magical Ali moments. A great victory without a doubt.

This fight threw up so many fascinating asides that were wonderful.

The Fight by Norman Mailer is my favourite ever boxing book, and if you haven't read it, and you're posting here, you need to fix that.

"Oh my god he's won the title back at thirty-two!" is my favourite ever line of commentary.

"You have looked up to me all your life. You watched me as a boy. Now I will show you what it means to be a champion!" is my favourite line of stare-down patter ever, by a mile.

When We Were Kings is my favourite boxing documentary.

I am not a Muhammad Ali fan. I am not a George Foreman fan. And this fight and the circumstances surrounding it are just incredible, wonderful, beautiful.

It's a magical fight, so many elements that you could never ever get in any other sport.

Currently reading it for the first time even though big Mailer fan.

Rewatched When We Were Kings last night.

I think being a Mailer fan means you concede the man "drives way off course" sometimes. Some of the interviews of Mailer at that time discussing "the Fight" don't age well (thinking of the Cavett appearance).

I think Foreman comes across more sympathetically in the book than the doc.

Big Ali fan, and big Foreman fan.

Edited to add also watching "Big George Foreman" for the sake of his singular story as well as Forest Whitaker. We could all learn a lot from Big George.

Lurked a lot before signing up.
    Thanks for allowing me in.

Even though Don King is a slime ball you have to rate him for putting such a fight together and when Foreman tried to leave Zaire he got the President to withhold his passport until the fight

Perhaps the biggest fight of all time with a proclaimed billion people watching

IMHO the Rumble in the Jungle was the greatest example of "brains over brawn" in boxing history! (And a true testament to Ali's ring wizardry--no other fighter could have pulled off what he did that night!!)

Not a fan of When We Were Kings personally. More his-story than history.

Ali's right hand was perfection itself, all night long.
Foreman was throwing wide, wild and tired by the fifth round.

Foreman looked discouraged at the start of the eight round and when he went down, he went down hard.
