For me though, great defensive fighters are those who can come forward yet take less damage than just slugging, it's pretty much Pryor, Duràn, Locche.

Prime Tyson, Toney - Qawi was very good at slipping and countering.

    Pryor doesn't remotely belong.

Kinda weird how many of these ended up so obviously punchy.

No matter how good your defense is, you are going to get hit and hit a lot.

Especially in the gym where you can be tired from training beforehand, often baiting guys to hit you so you, trying to work on something or just not taking it as seriously as a real fight.

The minutes, hours, days, weeks and years of that add up.

Funnily enough some of the more offensive minded guys like Foreman, LaMotta and Duran come out best.
I guess giving the other guy a damn good reason to stay away has its benefits.

Good stuff, and I like seeing Maxie get his due. An extraordinary fighter who doesn’t get mentioned much.

Nice call on Bazooka Gomez’s ability to defend to the body, too.

What do you think of Juan Manuel Marquez and Ricardo Lopez for this list?
