Archie Moore:did he have a good chin?

If his chin had been China' , then he doesn't last half as long as he did fighting.

 

Anyone saying that shouldn't be entitled to oxygen.

He had a proven stout chin that stood him in good stead thru a number of wars over many years. The only criticism that could perhaps be made is that he was sometimes a slow starter & thus perhaps a bit vulnerable to an early KD or stoppage, as suggested by his fights with Morrow & Durelle.

He was solid as a rock! His defence clouded the question but there is film of him being caught and hurt, he can be hurt everyone can but Moore always hung tough.

 

Starting slow isn’t really a “con” IMO Moore was a smart fighter, one of the smartest, it wasn’t a mistake, he was taking his time to study he had 10-15 rounds to beat them up.

 

What Archie, at an advanced age, took from Marciano before finally succumbing should be enough to be getting on with in respect of upholding his chin.

The thing is back in those days fighters were fighting often and fighting against dangerous opposition daily. So you see more knockdowns more losses it doesn't take away from their greatness though.

In todays era your lucky to see a champion fighting twice a year and very rarely do you see a top champion today fighting in numerous fights that are very loseable fights for them.

For example how many fights has Crawford had outside of Spence in which you thought his opponent had a good chance of beating him ?
