That's exactly the playbook of so many similar positioned fighters. Got to give credit to the likes of Dubois, who has his nationality at his back, but still has been prepared to risk as loss and comeback if need be.

Glad to say I was on the Dubois bandwagon early haha, was after the Fujimoto fight where yes, an overmatched opponent, but I saw enough in him to suggest that he'll go to the top. He's happy to take a loss too, dare I say he learned more from the Joyce fightthan he ever would have fighting more nobodies at that time?

I was surfing the boxrec cruiserweight rankings, and two things caught my attention. One Firat Arslan is still fighting, even though he said he was gonna retire last year. Second there is a Cuban prospect called Lenar Perez with a record of 13 wins, no losses and all his wins via ko. He currently lives in Russia and most of his fights have been in Russia and Georgia. This Perez guy looks good. Good fundamentals, decent speed, good power. I hope he doesn't disappoint like so many Cubans. I wonder what he is doing in Russia though.

Looking at the post Usyk era, i think its clear than Dubois and Kabayel are the front runners. Age will eventually catch up with Parker though he probably has 2-3 good years left in him. Jalolov and Lenier Pero are likely to throw away their potential unless they get serious quick. Itauama is unproven but he is on the right track in staying active and as such, he will likely pick up a belt. Opetaia will have some success when he moves up. Torrez Jr is decent and despite being a little shorter than a modern heavy, he will likely be a top contender. I don't think his defense will ever allow him to be the very best in the world but he could cause upsets and beat some future top 10 guys. Here is what i think 1. Guys who will retire in 1-2 years: Usyk, Fury, Joshua and Zhang. 2. Guys who have 3-4 good years left and will be top 5/top 10 heavies and possibly pick up belts: Parker, Kabayel, Bakole 3. Guys who have the most long term potential under 30: Dubois 4. Guys who are currently unproven but has the most long term potential: Itauma and Opetaia 5. Guys who likely won't ever be elite but have the power, determination or skill to cause upsets: Wardley, Torrez Jr, and Justis Huni 6. Guys who will likely fade unless they regain motivation: Hrgovic, Ruiz Jr and Frank Sanchez 7. Guys who will likely throw away their talent: Jalolov and Lenier Pero Other than Dubois, i don't see anyone who is both proven and has great long term potential. Maybe Opetaia when he moves up.
I am still hoping Gassiev stays healthy and makes run, and am very curious to see if Gadzhimagomedov steps up.
