Looks like Cordina has been trying to test the waters with other promotors whilst being out of contract with Matchroom. He's blamed them for not getting him fights. He can't have it both ways. Cordina in my opinion is confused and deluded. He's not a mega superstar in Cardiff let alone in the UK. He needs to realise big money fights don't just drop out of the air as soon as you've got a belt. Now he's had a loss, that's put a major dent in his profile and potential. He needs to quickly get back on the boxing scene, get his name out there and build some kind of profile which makes people want to see him fight. Also, him and other boxers need to give up this obsession with stadium fights as soon as they've won a belt. You don't need a bloody stadium fight just because you think that's the next step. Stadium fights are generally crap for both the boxers and the fans. Just stick to arenas unless it absolutely calls for stadium setting. These boxers don't listen though do they.
With the Warren's and hearns being tight, it's highly unlikely the Warren's will want to rock the boat of the relationship
Looked crap since his gym mate (at the time) Benn failed his drug tests but ironed out a world champion with one punch the fight before that haha.
This is what happens when prima donnas like Joshua & the Paul brothers get paid millions filling out stadiums off the back of herd mentality driven hype. The more talented ones start wanting a slice of the pie. Unfortunately life isnt fair
I have heard that Joe Cordina feels that he was cheated and became furious when Matchroom did not tell the correct amount for a possible upcoming fight.
. Which is dodgy as hell They apparently have matching rights on his next fight That's some form of contract in itself
Frank and Eddie are sneaky as anything. Wouldn't trust anything the pair of them say. Frank Smith needs to be exposed by someone.
Not sure on that. I saw a interview with hearn saying Cordina got the Stephenson fight due to Cordina manager good working relationship with matchroom.
Matching rights aren't unusual in boxing when a contract ends. It can work in a fighters favour too and drive their price up.
It's not very nice, but that's the world of professional boxing. I know of numerous examples where promoters have hidden how much money there is in a fight. The boxers are not told the correct amount and - after all - they are the ones putting their lives on the line. It often ends up with the promoters taking 80 % of the money and then 20 % is left for the boxer.
