I know he did and I've never criticized his chin. But this is 154 not 147 and big punching 154 pounders and we just don't know until we see it how someone's chin is going to hold up at higher weight, especially when they get hit a lot and most if not all the top guys at that weight are big punchers or KO artists. He might beat all of them. Maybe beat some and lose to others. Maybe none at all. I think they're tough match ups for him but likewise for them too.

    Yeah, for sure.

    It's amusing watching E-Hearn pre and post-fight

    ya. boots won clearly.

boots landed more, better shots more of the rounds and scored a kd.

he got hit more than some would like. that doesnt change the above set of facts.

if boots was from Mexico City or Japan or random-used-to-be-commiestan, the narrative would be about what a clean-living, dedicated warrior he is and its in his dna and so on.

is he no more than a hype job? maybe. seems like too early to know with much certainty.

i think he'll end up showing closer to being the goods than hypejob, however.

I can also imagine that Ennis would take a better punch at 154, not having to cut down to 147. It will probably equal out.

I didn't score the fight so i won't won't say it was a gift but one of those scorecards was absolutely atrocious. I honestly wasn't that impressed with boots performance. Karen has good footwork and timing and seemed to have Ennis frustrated through much of the fight. Chuck was landing a lot of sneaky shots. Boots didn't seem to be able to make the necessary adjustments to "get 'em outta there" and even after he scored the knockdown (from which Karen quickly recovered) he struggled to land anything clean or significant. He had no inside game and didn't go to the body enough which may have slowed down some of Karens fancy footwork. Sure, maybe Boots won the overall fight but I have to say this leaves me underwhelmed and tells me he's absolutely not ready for a Crawford.

Like I said, it's insane how we witness the immediate rewriting after the final bell of what we've seen with our own eyes and narratives created in real time by commentary teams which contradict what our eyes are seeing

A little earlier in the interview he said he won virtually every round

The commentary team were acknowledging some of Karen's good work, albeit IIRC it was mostly Mora, but they had but no choice to because as they were in the process of pushing the preferred narrative that was supposed to happen Karen would completely contradict it by landing with such quality clean eye catching shots and getting the better of the action they couldn't get away with ignoring it

With everything stacked heavily against him both times Karen has now gone 24 rounds against Smoky Boots in his backyard/country with all 8 of the officials for both world title fights and home country commentators to create the desired narrative and now, and I'm more alluding to social media than here, people are acting like and actually believe both fights were blowouts whilst conceding that Smokey Boots got hit too much in the rematch instead of giving Karen credit.

Yes, Karen was on his bike all night in the first fight and spent much of the duration of it running but he did actually have his moments and won at least 3 of those rounds

But in the rematch he won at least 6 rounds IMO but many are acting like anyone who thinks so must've been blind drunk when they watched the fight, are clueless casuals, or are completely insane
