What hurts boxing the most PPV,rival promoters, injuries from boxing, UFC, titles?

Too many sanctioning bodies and shithouse coverage.

 

IMO the Tyson freak show(after he got out of prison) hurt boxing. while it made millions, it also turned people off. people went to see boxing for the freak show instead of the sweet science. Once this backlash wears off i think boxing will return. boxing needs to be exposed to the public again to remind them of what boxing is really about. cuz from what i'm getting, the general misconception from people are that the only people who are in boxing are thugs and "Crazy Animals"

The fans!

As long as the fans will buy shitty PPV and tune in to watch shitty match ups.

The networks will continue to make those fights. Because that's where the money is.

 

mainly because of the fractured titles and promoters, the ppv format also makes the sport less accessible as opposed to when it was on prime time back in the day (although the ppv format is more rewarding for the fighters moneywise, which makes it tolerable as these guys deserve all the money in the world). to a lesser extent, fighters cherry picking who they want to fight, the feminization of society resulting in the aversion to a "blood sport" and the fear of losing your "0", all contribute to boxings malaise.

 

Allthe above are reasons why.I would add the horrid decisions and incompetent judging and refs.Hometwown decisions are not just the exclusive property of germany.The phenomena of MMA has had a major impact on boxing and the younger dudes are watching this,thus taking away the future fan base for boxing.
