A Bruno fight against Liston, How long would it last? Tbh I don't see Sonny steamrolling him. Frank survived 5 against Tyson , that was no easy feat. I think Bruno maybe puts on a even fight at least for a few rounds, until Liston break him down.
Tyson was the only one who handled him relatively easy. And even then, he got his knees buckled in the first round. Lewis, Witherspoon, Smith were all given hard fights. He would be competitive with Liston until he isn't. Liston will catch him with something big in the mid to late rounds.
Hi Buddy. I don't think Bruno will survive until the late rounds, his nervous state would render him immobile long before then, he wasn't overly anxious against the likes of Lewis, Spoon, and Smith, but he sure as hell would be when squaring up the Liston of 61, the lactic acid and tension would result in his whole body shutting down, I would be surprised if he lasted beyond the 3rd, imo. stay safe matey, like your posts, always have, chat soon matey.
Bruno would $hit his trunks against Liston, also being so stuff and robotic, I say Liston within 3 at the most.
Bruno was no pushover in the early rds and see a Big Cat type fight . With this fight going a bit longer with Liston by tko mid rds .
I’m not sure how this fight would look… Bruno would look gigantic against Liston but Liston was quite a big bit better of a boxer… I guess Franks hope is to play at long, mid and impose his strength/size when it gets inside… try to wear him out in the clinch? (Liston will do that for him) just hope for the best? I really don’t see a way for FB beating Sonny unless he closes his eyes and lands a heaven sent right hand? Frank would actually probably gas early, Liston would look better then Lewis he’d get in on Frank and just keep on him… but I’m not sure if he can take what Bruno dishes out enough to pressure him reliably? The only puncher he fought he took out early… tricky, but at the same time I assume it has to be Sonny.
This all sounds about right. I don't see Frank beating Liston in a million years but he did give All apart from Tyson a decent fight. He's not getting crushed early imo,but Liston s power mixed with Frank's nerves see him stopped around the sixth for me.
I can't see Bruno lasting more than three rounds. His jab would be cancelled out by Liston's who had a longer reach. Bruno's biggest weakness was that he had no survival instincts, he was so vulnerable when he was hurt, his chin would come up and his hands would come down. I also think he would be scared to death of Liston and would have already lost before the opening bell.
We don't really have frame of reference for how Liston would handle someone of Bruno's size. It's a bit ironic that those who castigate Marciano for never beating a modern heavy turn around and call Liston H2H one of the best, when his best opponents would be cruisers, even small ones.. The closest he ever came to beating a modern heavy himself was Chuck Wepner.
