What was the hardest single punch delivered by Earnie Shavers?

I don’t know but I imagine getting your head held and pulled into an uppercut (like Ellis) from Shavers would absolutely take years off your life.

It's almost certainly a punch that we've never seen. He's got a disgusting amount of KO's that were never filmed and given many of these were against lower level fighters he no doubt teed off on them with some terrifying right hands.

Of those that were televised, I'll never forget him almost pulling it out against Tillis in the 9th.

Man, how many times have i put that one up. I'm glad you agree old mate. A home run hit for sure. It wasn't a world title fight and Tillis isn't fashionable so it barely ever gets acknowledged.

 

Both would be absolutely fascinating.

 

Shaver's ministry put out a tape called Earnie Shvavers - Greatest Puncher Of The Century (I think that was the title)

It's basically a best of, with obscure footage I hadn't seen or heard of where he's just dropping bombs on dudes. I couldn't pinpoint which one was hardest.

 

the right hander that dropped Mercado and burst the glove was a hell of a shot.
Even more amazing was the fact that Mercado got up, survived a bloody hiding for the rest of the round and came back to get a stoppage win.
