Mike Tyson lost to a journeyman in his prime is his ATG status at risk ?

Douglas had a journeyman career are you serious ? So beating Greg Page, Oliver McCall, Trevor Berbick, who are 3 former/future world champions is a journeyman career ? He was ranked in the top 10 for 4 years and has one of the best single wins in Heavyweight history along with the 3 wins I mentioned above.

How you can say that's a journeyman’s career is baffling I'm convinced hardly anyone has seen any of Douglas's fights outside of the Tyson and Holyfield fights.

Douglas went 10-1 between 1987 to 1990 leading up to the Tyson fight and the one loss was to Tony Tucker who he was beating comprehensively until the stoppage in the 10th round.

Douglas was in very good form for 3 years and had multiple good performances over notable fighters the Mike Williams fight for example Douglas knocked his opponent down 3 times with a jab which is unheard of.

Sorry he totally fulfilled his potential. Total ATG. ****ing Mike Williams lol That performance has me reconsidering Buster.
He was a one hit wonder and Holyfield ****ing embarrassed him.

Be sarcastic all you want you haven't got a clue what you're talking about and it's quite apparent when you say Douglas had a "journeyman career".

So apparently beating 4 fighters who were world champions and being ranked in the top 10 for 4 years is a "journeyman career" the lack of knowledge is astounding.

I think the term you're looking for is "contender".

    **** you child.

I saw Busters career in real time. Not with revisionist goggles on. Talented. An ATG victory. But an underwhelming career for what his physical talent and skills could have delivered.
Beating Mike Williams and Oliver McCall doesn’t paper over an unfulfilled talent.

First off do not swear at me.

Secondly you made a poor post claiming Douglas had a journeyman career which is total nonsense and now you're deflecting and you have no rebuttal to any of my points which says it all.

Douglas was a ranked contender for 4 years he had 4 wins over opponents who were former, current, or future world champions in Greg Page, Trevor Berbick, Mike Tyson, Oliver McCall.

Obviously you don't understand the difference between a contender & journeyman because Douglas was certainly not a journeyman.

He was unfulfilled talent and ultimately a disappointment .
Beating guys who were as equally disappointing doesn’t paper over that glaring blight on his career. His record was that of a fringe journeyman. He definitely didn’t earn a shot at Tyson ahead of Holyfield but credit it to him he made the most of it.
it’s a pity Evander exposed the gap in genuine skill,

    This post is ******ed.

A celebrity exhibition at 60 has no bearing on his historical ranking or achievements as a boxer. If you think he wasn’t that good or whatever, that’s fine, but last night shouldn’t factor in if you have even a tiny bit of common sense…

    Really, F tier thread.

I'm not disagreeing with you that Douglas didn't fulfill his full potential he basically got the big win over Tyson and then threw it away vs Holyfield by not trying he had the same issues as Bowe once he won the title he also started coming in out of shape.

I just don't agree Douglas had a journeyman career I think it was a solid contender between 87-90 he had a good 3 year period where he was in good form. I'd rank him as a good contender who could've been a whole lot more had he had more dedication.

I'm sorry I come across a bit harsh to you it's just I stayed up late last night watching the boxing and the Paul vs Tyson fight left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

    100%.
If he had Dynamite's mentality he would of been a weapon. He would have been stored behind glass only to breakout in case of emergency.
Seriously if you were gonna build or sculpt the perfect heavyweight from a physical standpoint Bus wouldn't be that far off. 6-4 230lbs (in condition) with quick hands, quick footwork, coordination and agility. His jab would could have sat at the table with Holmes, Liston etc.

No, and Douglas wasn’t a journeyman. Robinson will always be my goat and he has losses to guys I’ve never heard of.

If Buster's first defense wasn't against Evander Holyfield we would likely look at him in a different light.

True but there was no way he could have ever avoided Holyfield if he was serious about keeping the Undisputed Crown. He had no choice but to fight Holyfield when he did.

Possibly true but if Buster didn’t go into the Holyfield fight looking like a beached whale, clearly lacking the focus and conditioning of Tokyo, that fight could’ve been a lot different.

For one thing, Buster could’ve arisen after Holy dropped him - but Buster elected to stay down.

With at least the same mental resolve during the fight if not conditioning, Tokyo Buster would’ve gotten back up.

Lennox Lewis got crushed by Oliver McCall who I'd rank lower than Buster in Lewis' prime and he's considered ATG.

Great fighters can lose sometimes, even in their primes, for many reasons. In this case, Buster Douglas was extremely focused and in a high emotional state. Mike Tyson was unfocused and in a low emotional state.

Mike Tyson is an ATG, with or without the Buster Douglas fight. And Buster Douglas was not a Journeyman.
