It was a gimmick exhibition crossover bout to launch the saudi blood dollar season.

I think a lot had to do with Fury being so disgustingly out of shape and not taking the fight and Francis as serious as he should have, and Francis being a little better then anticipated.

Ngannou took down the Lineal HW Champion (and maybe scored another knockdown) in one of Fury's worst releases (not Ngannou's fault).
Also, Ngannou did not lose by knockout in his debut fight in professional boxing.
    These facts cannot be overrated.

That wasn't all I asked but no worries if you don't want to respond to all of the questions based on what you said
You won't want to tie yourself up by answering
    No worries

There's nothing to tie up. I think it's the best he ever looked.

Well, crossing over from MMA as a boxing debutant, based on the available information as at the time, he was rated as you would expect him to be going into the Fury fight.

After the fact of the Fury fight, even handed assessment would, in hindsight of course, conclude that, due to lack of prior example, his abilities in the arena of boxing were somewhat underrated.

But then, overrating also came into play after the Fury fight in so far as how well applied Ngannou might be against another top fighter.

I mean, gee, his first 2 fights as a boxing pro were against Fury then AJ. A hero one day, and a zero the next?

He hasn’t exactly been fully exposed save for his obvious lack of experience and him naturally requiring further development in the sport of boxing.

Whatever shape Fury was in, I wouldn’t dismiss out of hand the stylistic issues that he encountered against Francis.

Ngannou’s own size and strength negated several of Fury’s preferred tactics.

Remember, while AJ beat Ngannou with relative ease, we are yet to see Fury ACTUALLY do same, notwithstanding all the excuses plied after the fact of Tyson’s match against Ngannou.

For Fury to secure redemption for the Ngannou fight specifically, he’ll only get it by actually facing Ngannou again and clearly defeating him.

Both an out of shape and in shape Ali struggled with a guy named Ken Norton.

Foreman smashed that same guy to pieces - simply because that’s what the first incarnation of Foreman often did to secure his wins.

So it went with Fury vs Ngannou and then AJ vs Ngannou.

Ultimately, in the rematch Ali beat Norton and then went on to defeat Foreman - so Foreman’s much easier win over Norton as compared to Ali’s victory against Ken was put in its proper place.

However one frames Fury readiness or lack thereof for the Ngannou fight, he was never going to obliterate Francis the way the harder punching AJ did at any rate.

If Dubois’ victory over AJ could be framed in any way to have lessened Usyk’s own prior wins over AJ, it would be ignoring the stylistic manner in which different fighter secure their wins.

What ultimately matters the most is winning, and Usyk has actually faced and defeated both AJ and Dubois.

Ngannou beat Fury dropping him twice in the process

It just shows how shot Fury is

This is true and to be fair I'm also very guilty of it
I did always say it was a rubbish era and it's why I did have him 1 at a time

Fury is nothing special and beating him isn't anything extraordinary. Just ask John McDermott

Fury trying to clinch Ngannou was humorous. Of all guys to try that game on, a former UFC champ? Ngannou no doubt has an innate sense of leverage and stance when it comes to that sort of thing that would exceed anything a boxer would have.

No. He was fighting the heavyweight champion. No one is really talking about it much because probably most think Fury didn't train. But Ngannou did better than expected anyway.

I think it exposed that Fury, at least this more recent version, would probably be in deep **** if he went up against a solid boxer who has size, strength and power and is decently durable. Wilder was obviously a big puncher but he didnt have Ngannous mass and strength so Fury was able to bully him in a way he wasnt able to with Ngannou and likely wouldnt be able to vs someone like Bakole or Zhang either.

Fury should not have fought Ngannou right before Usyk.
