Are you certain this is 1887? I'm skeptical.

 

Not to be smart but I’m not sure what the basis is for your scepticism is - it might be for a reason I’m not aware of.

As far as the tech for chrono photography goes, it appears that it was there some time prior to 1887 - the examples below dated between 1873 to 1878 - the fluidity of some of the examples being better than the image stream of the boxers.

Footage like that is rare for a few decades after that and it looks very clean. Rarity isn't the same thing as technological ability though I get that.

 

It's definitely from 1887. I'm surprised nobody recognized this. It's a (very small) excerpt from Edward Muybridge's The Figure in Motion.
