No where near the GOAT, not even close. Lennox Lewis, Ali, Holyfield, Tyson, Holmes, Louis, etc. Fury has a good shot at beating him if he takes it seriously. Otherwise he should retire. Both should either way. But Usyk is way over rated right now.
Ah ok, my bad, I stumbled into the sycophantic thread where the only correct answer is "Yes" by mistake, Usyk is BRILLIANT at defusing big guys and guys his size, but he hasn't fought many speedsters and isn't a huge fan of being pressured, Del Boy had him uncomfortable for a few of the early rounds, what do the early rounds against Mike Tyson look like? Plus Usyk has the benefit of being a truly skilful operator in an era where the general relative skill level is low which makes him look better in a historic sense. And I'm aware that Mike Tyson wasn't operating in the strongest era either, and the razor cuts both ways, but I'm only pointing out that maybe, just maybe, being the best of this era doesn't make you a shoe in for greatest of all time
Nah. Usyk is a truly great boxer. But his resume at heavyweight is thin to say the least. It's not his fault at all, but unfortunately he's a victim of his time.
The general relative skill level is low, agree 100% with this. Especially at HW. When I watch fights from the 80's to 90's & older, my eyes see a huge gulf in overall skills of the average fighter as compared to today. Usyk is a wonderful boxer, no doubt. Unfortunately, his competition is weak at HW.
Hard to argue with this European, World and Olympic chap as Amateur Udnisputed CW and HW as a Pro 21 fights as a pro.
He's obviously GOAT in terms of almost certainly beating all these 'ATG's from America and the British Empire. He won't get that accolade due to 'Western' media control and myth making. But what Usyk has proven is that he can handle modern power from SHWs and handle some of the biggest (mobile) fighters too. Anyone with half a brain should be able to work out what he'd do to these old fighters, most of whom are nowhere near as big and powerful as AJ/Fury/Dubious etc., and not as drilled/skilled either. Even Bellew is bigger than a bunch of them and hits harder. And many other cruisers Usyk has beaten also. Even if he loses to Fury now, he's proven he can beat him. You would have to be utterly deluded to think these old fighters are beating Usyk. He wouldn't just beat but utterly destroy most of them. Actually the Jake Paul fight just showed the absurd propaganda from boxing media regarding their 'legends'. Tyson was an ATG HW apparently and he would destroy Usyk and Fury and so on. He was supposed to destroy the Youtuber Jake Paul, despite old age. The amazing ATG ability was apparently going to ruin this social media character. What happened? And now people are trying to pretend it was fake to deal with reality. Here's a question, does a late 50s Usyk or Fury lose to 5'11 LHW Jake Paul?
He'd be 4-0 against long reigning champs Fury and Joshua, who Wlad is 0-2 against. He'd be undefeated despite running an incredible gauntlet and being the B-side in his four biggest fights. Olympic gold, undisputed cruiser, undisputed heavy, perfect record. There would be a strong argument yes.
No. Usyk will still have wins over 5 individual fighters at HW. Not 5 good fighters 5 fighters period. And all those wins except Chazz were either close or controversial. Usyk does not belong in the HW GOAT conversation. The people pretending he does are living in the moment. CW historically IS HW but he added no major HW feats at CW except maybe Hunter because Hunters got the Bakole win. Saying you think Usyk is in the HW GOAT convo is subtly implying you thinl Fury and AJ would have been in the GOAT conversation too without Usyks presence because thats the only way 3-4 close wins over them are getting valued that high.
Yes, the same haters and 'fans' who try to discredit him worship at the altars of have gloves won't travel deck-stacking serial cheat walking PED factory divas who wouldn't dare take a fraction of the risks he does for fun and pray to the boxing gods for the return of the good old days when boxing was a regional sport where few outside of North America gave a crap about the sport.
He is not the GOAT, and never will be. The HW era he is in isn’t good enough for him to be. What he will have proved is he is clearly the best HW of his era
He already did. Now it's icing on the cake. Probably too brief of a HW career to be a GOAT but he's way up there H2H maybe top 5 imo.
