Lennox Lewis is a coward lol. That's absolutely hilarious coming from people who have never achieved anything significant in boxing. If they've even boxed.

At what point is it ok to retire? Could it be well past prime after getting a win, a stoppage, over somebody the caliber of a younger and closer to prime Vitali Klitschko? Yeah that's probably an OK time to hang them up.

    Lennox Lewis is arrogant lol.
This is about boxing not a personality contest. Only people with feminine qualities would hold that against a boxer. Arrogance is probably a good trait for a fighter ffs.

That's my point. They weren't allowed to turn pro then because of communism. He was lucky. All the guys who beat up his big goofy ass, never had the opportunity to turn pro..they were still in the amateurs.

It's ridiculous isn't it ? Like who are these people to tell a professional boxer when to retire ? They're putting their lives on the line everytime they enter that ring with also the danger of having long term health issues.

Lewis has one of the best resumes of all time at Heavyweight and had been fighting world class opposition for a decade. I think retiring in your late 30s with your health and legacy intact should be applauded.

What makes me laugh is fans are so fickle they complain when a fighter carries on too long and ruin their legacy and health. But yet these same people in this thread are calling an ATG Heavyweight a coward for retiring with his health and legacy intact you can't make it up.

So it seems like every western boxer was lucky from 1945 to 1990. Are you using that measuring scale for them as well? If so, that's hilarious. If not, why? Are western boxers lucky now, cause some tremendous Cuban boxers can't fight professionally?

He beat Stoimenov in a rematch, Klepka, Burmistrov, most of the guys Lewis lost to were more experienced than him.

He lost to Biggs (lol that says enough), Kaden, and Jorge Gonzalez

    WTF !?

Soviets and the associeted countries not being able to go pro is a complete myth and a recent one. What kind of agenda are you trying to push ? 3 of who you listed went pro in the 90s before and after the union collapsed they just didn't have a good career. Maskaev was a literal Soviet boxer in the 90s

To quote George Carlin... "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

blame his wife. Steward confirmed that one. Lewis wanted to, felt he owed it to Vitali, but his wife told him she’d leave him if he fought again.

Yeah, Lewis was arrogant all right, but Vitali claiming he got 5 cuts because of the headbutt is ok, lol.

Great post. The guy couldn't admit that Vitaly wobbled him in the 2nd round.

Both are mad arrogant, Vitaly with da headbutt nonsensical complaining and allat stuff, but idk which excuses are far more rampant when users go against Lewis, if for Vitaly or for Bowe

Yea, but Lewis is just boring in terms of personality so even if he acted more gracious, it wouldn’t have helped. Plus the Canadian/British thing also played a role.

How could the cut save him, when his fist and ability in fact, created the cut. He won by stoppage due to his fist turning Vitali's face into tenderloins. And i like Vitali. #boxing

A sport where your only goal is to outbox or incapacitate your opponent, has controversy around CUTS?

If you punch somebody's face in to the point they're cut up and mangled and can't continue, you win.
"He wouldn't win if not for the cut!" = You mean Lennox wouldn't have won, had he not met the criteria for winning a match?

He won by cuts, that's a viable win condition. It's not like they were an accident, that's the entire goal. KO or cut them up.

I hope all the people saying Lewis' victory was controversial are now up in arms to demand Dubois vs Hrgović rematch. After all, Filip was winning on the scorecards and only lost because of the cuts. And these cuts, were actually caused by some headbutts as well, contrary to Lews/Klitschko situation.
