He was not hurt, it was a flash knockdown.

    That's a fair point.

Benavidez has certainly been more impressive at 168, but the same could also be said of Calz. I like the Welshman by close decision (see the Plant comments).

OK Jones was way past prime and Hopkins also, but to claim that was prime joe is also stupid

Prime calaghe was pre lacy, but if we use that version or the guy that fought Bika, Kessler? He would have too much

I know Joe has some cans on his record, but he has some good ones too, especially later on. No denying the guy had speed, stamina for days and some skill too

Benavidez, who was huge for 168 and much bigger for his 175 debut than career 175 pounder Bivol is, has been beating up on domestic levels, and 154 and 160 pounders

His best ever win over a legit 168 pounder Plant has never beaten anyone of any note whatsoever himself and was hurt multiple times, dropped and saved from an early KO loss in his last fight by a club fighter who looks like one of the bums from Mike Tyson's Punch Out. Benavidez couldn't even drop or stop Plant despite the fact Plant is soft chinned.

Boo Boo is a career 154/160 who had only fought at 168 once and has never beaten a single past, current or future world champion

Lemieux was a washed up 154/160 pounder who was considered a bum way back in his prime when GGG whooped him by the same people who now hype up Benavidez for beating up his corpse

Gavril dropped Benavidez and arguably beat him in their first fight

Benavidez ain't ever beating Calzaghe, let alone stopping him

Prime Calzaghe had a hell of a beard

This is an injury-ravaged shell of Calzaghe who hadn't sparred for 2 years due to injuries walking through flush bomb after bomb from the fighter who Froch said is the hardest puncher he ever fought

A 172lb Calzaghe walking through 100s of Eubank's bombs and loads of vicious head clashes too

185lb Benavidez would need smelling salts to revive him if he took a fraction of these shots

He's lucky Gvozdyk's ghost only turned up for the payday and didn't put an power on his shots but that won't be the case against Morrell who is going to knock him senseless

And FTR, Benavidez is one of my favourite current fighters and I fell in love with his style the first time I saw him fight

Benavidez is a lanky Mexican goat herder with rudimentary boxing skills.
    Zaggers smashes him with ease.

What's Benavidez done? Beat a post Canelo Plant? What's plants claim to fame? Beating the 40 year old least talented Direll brother? FFS.. Benavidez is probably the most overhyped fighter right now... I know Calzaghe went on a bit of a bum run but at least he came good in the end.. what the f*** has Benavidez done? Nothing. Andrade was literally the worst champion in boxing, his career was a joke. Benavidez is a CW fighting in a wasteland of a division (SMW) other than Canelo. His resume is trash, he looks about as athletic as Bill Gates & he barely scraped by a shot Gvozdyk who was probably paid to hold back anyway .. I'd take Calzaghes Lacy, Bika, Kessler & Hopkins run over anything Benavidez has done by a country mile. Calzaghe all day long..

I see this going much the way as Calzaghe V Kessler. In the opening rounds the untrained eye would think DB looks really threatening and will surely get to Joe at some point. Then Joe boxes his head off to win a comfortable decision.

Who are you talking about? Kyrone Davis had a draw with Dirrell at 168 and is a top 160 pounder. Surely you are not claiming Andrade is a domestic level 160 pounder? The rest of David wins have been against 168 pounders.

Plant beat a uzcategi who was the wc, andPlant was ranked 2nd in the division. You could play the 'who has he beat game' with almost anyone including most of Canelo's best wins for example. Plant is a high level fighter.

But David wouldn't be taking those shots because his defense is nowhere near as sloppy and he does not leave his head down chin in the air and walk into shots like Joe did in those videos. His high guard is very good which is why he is so hard to hit clean. The video you posted vs Reid just showed how awful Joe's defense is and why David would beat the crap out of him.

What makes Plant soft chinned? Getting stopped by Canelo? Its hilarious how not stopping Plant has become such a criticism of Benavidez as if everyone is stopping him, yet Canelo can't even stop C level fighters and nobody mentions anything.

When he was 20 years old, big deal.

Benavidez started sparring a prime GGG when he was 15 years old and was a long term sparring partner for 5 years, without eve being hurt. Apart from a flash knockdown when he was 20 he was never been visibly hurt his entire career, so there is no evidence he can't take a punch infact all the evidence shows otherwise.

The 'ghost' of Gvoszdyk turned up more muscular and ripped than ever in his career. The reason he was not loading up much was because David was countering his ass so much.

Do you often wildly bash your favourite fighters?

The reality is Benavidez has fought and battered 4 current or former wc's at 168, and the only close fight he ever had was when he was 20 years old. His dominance at 168 has been so strong that its caused Canelo arguably an ATG to duck him in the most blatant matter in boxing history while demanding 200m to get into the ring, despite being willing to fight Bivol and GGG for a fraction. It seems Canelo rates your favourite fighter far more highly then you do:)

ps. and he's the youngest wc in the divisions history at age 20.

Would you say Canelo ducked him because he's over hyped?
