Yeah, Fury's punch resistance will probably be worse. He'll have to be defensively better. I think Usyk still needs to hit him pretty sweetly to do damage, but with Usyk's workrate he has lots of chances. Fury's weight might come down quite a bit in the next month. We'll have to see. Usyk is looking a bit chubby there also. What Fury really needs is a big KD to turn the fight in his favour and get Usyk compromised for a stretch of the fight, like what happened in Wilder II. I think it's foolish to write him off. He should still be a live dog at least. Without the big LH Usyk landed the fight would have ended up pretty close and that was only one moment in the fight, and didn't happen again. A lot of people blinded by weird Fury hate, the same people who think AJ and Chisora are cool guys or something, when those two are genuine thug stock, whilst Fury is a WWE character.
Will be a bonus for Fury being able to spar this time, hes definitely sparring Itauma, and I think Lerena as well? Anyone know who else Fury is sparring? Anyone know who Usyk is sparring?
I rewatched the first fight and noted that almost half the rounds Fury lost, he did so because he took the last 20s off and got clipped with eye catching punches. Less showboating and more focus would be good, but can the big man actually get fit enough to fight for all 3 minutes of every round?
Fury's round winning tactics were pretty poor. Fury is very smart when it comes to knowing how to win rounds but Usyk is even better and his stamina edges out Fury's down the stretch but both were dead tired from round 7 onwards fighting on their instincts. To me the thing in this fight is really the rounds were lost by both fighters when they both fought poorly in the round, not that the other guy fought so well. The rounds Usyk dominated in were from Fury losing his composure badly, not really because Usyk was boxing so well but because he kept pressuring and Fury tried to keep that pressure off throwing some really poor shots. Usyk put a decent amount in early then Fury stepped it up in them mid rounds and it was brutal but Usyk clearly took at least 1 of them bad rounds off. I expect Fury to focus fully in the rematch and he really needs to dominate early, the end rounds are going to be about who has more in the tank and Usyk is always favoured there. If either are able to make boxing adjustment that allow them to dominate the fight fair play to them. I think neither can come in physically better. Fury must be annoyed because some of the shots he landed have most heavyweights in full reel mode where Usyk is cool and clear how to defend himself. The most impressive thing for me is how they both took away each others punches and varied up their own offence to land all kind of shots all kinds of angles. It was really great. Highest skill HW fight for tens of years and that's them both on the decline.
