    How I see it:

    1. Bert Cooper (38-25) nearly knocked out Evander Holyfield in a world title fight, dropped Michael Moorer, and had a brutal war with him. Trained by Joe Frazier, he could knock opponents out like Mike Tyson.

    2. Leon Spinks (26-17-3) won the world heavyweight title by sensationally defeating Muhammad Ali in 1978. He was also an Olympic champion in 1976.

    3. Jess Willard (24-13-2), known as the "Pottawatomie Giant," became the world heavyweight champion in 1915 by defeating Jack Johnson.

    What is your opinion?

I feel like Derek Chisora has got to be up there.

Jimmy Young doesn't have the greatest record but he has wins over prime Foreman and Lyle.

Ross Purittys record looks terrible compared to guys he drew with (Morrison) or beat (Wlad, Joe Hipp, JLG)

Evander Holyfield is 44-10 his Heavyweight record was 26-10 I think that's quite a modest record for a top 10 ATG Heavyweight. Although Holyfield did fight alot of tough opposition and most of his losses occurred when he was way past his prime.

Jim Barry is the best sub .500 HW because he thought fighting Sam Langford 12 times was a good idea.

These losses came as the result of him being fed title shots. They came with a benefit most fighters do not get so he should get the blame with going .500ish in those. This is only fair.

    Jimmy Ellis 40-12
    Journeyman Joe Walcott 49-20-1
    Joe Goddard 32-15-7
James Corbett 11-4-3, though I have sources that say he had over 50 fights.
    Mike Weaver 41-18-1

Pete Rademacher, who finished at 15-7-1, would probably have beaten Cooper.

Johnny Risko had an ordinary record of 67-46-6 along with 21 no decisions. Yet, he beat Jack Sharkey, Max Baer, Tommy Loughran, Jack Delaney, Paul Berlanbach, Mickey Walker, Bob Olin, Ernie Schaaf, Paulino Uzcudun and Tony Galento.
