Avni Yildirim was the first name that sprung to my mind. The useless dosser couldn't fight to save his life and got two back to back WBC title shots. WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman corruptly always had him highly ranked in a desperate attempt to manufacture a first ever Turkey world champion.

I wouldn't say this fighter was the worst he's a not a bad fighter per se but I am very surprised Fulgencio Obelmejias was able to get 2 title shots vs Marvin Hagler he didn't really beat anyone of note fighting pretty much solely in Venezuela.

You'll have to go back to the early days where world champions traveled to fight in pubs against the towns local tough guys on a weekly basis to pad their resume's to find your answer.

    Yildrim.

It was crazy how WBC allowed Canelo to dictate this.

His wins over Chong Pal Park aren't half-bad in fairness, but, yeah, never really rated Obel all too highly.

Does WBA "regular" count as a real title? Plus Pianeta was better than the guys like Akavov and Yildirim

Hamsho is levels above some so-called champions like Valuev etc. He beat some really good fighters like Benitez (not prime but still good), Minter, Czyz. And he is light years ahead of the guys like Akavov or Yildirim

Oblemejias won title against solid champion later in his career so he doesn't classify here. He wouldn't classify anyway though because there were dozens worse fighters who challenged for world title twice. All the fighters mentioned in the first post of this thread were far worse than him. I'd also clearly put him ahead of the guys like Botha who had 4 title fights opportunities

Chisora. Taking big name fights doesn't mean anything, if you lose every meaningful fight you're in. A journeyman british-tier fighter with good marketing

Its the least real title there is. Interim should count more a lot more.
