Hey gang, just popping in to say, might be doing some changes for the new year.

I'll listen to feedback of course, but as of right now Im thinking of cutting fight schedules down to a max 20 fights a month. With title fights taking priority of course, and then can do voting to determine what fights make the cut

Main reasons I'd be doing this.

    1) I think majority of why league has lost so many of its community is, theres too many obscure fights in there. I say that respectfully.
    2) see reason #1
    3) see reason #1
    4) I do pay out of pocket for chanox to do his updates and I plan on diverting some of his time away from the league to something else. I need the league manageable enough so that he can do his updates properly in the time he will have, and when theres a ton of fights makes it harder to do.

Anyways, I know some may like it some may hate it, let me know what you think, of course Ill always listen, but as of now Im leaning that way.

    Cheers Gang.

Although no one has mentioned his name I want to be clear none of this is an indictment on CST80. He puts tremendous effort into the schedule and updating the thread with results. His hard work, commitment and love for the sport is very impressive.

Speaking as a rookie who has barely missed a fight this year, I was leaning toward not playing next year. I have enjoyed playing quite a bit but there are a lot of fights I just don't care about. The prediction league does make me care more about those fights because it provides a rooting interest but I would still rather there weren't so many.

This year has produced it's fair share of discontent. We have had two players high up in the standings quit mid year despite doing very well. Both cited the quantity of fights as one of the primary reasons for ending their participation.

The amount of fights has also caused a secondary issue. The players do not see the standings nearly often enough. The standings are the fun of the league. Seeing how we are doing and bantering about it should be a highlight. The standings should be able to be be updated and posted after every weekend. However, there are so many fights and results to gather that we aren't getting close to that frequency.

    Indeed.

To make it clear, CST is a pillar of this league and the league is indebted to him many times over. I cant say enough on his place within the league and what he has done for it....

But I respectfully just think it might be time to try to refresh the league a bit.

I will cite another reason that I would add in the reasons I gave in my post, and it would probably be the second reason, and honestly its a reason that should have had me do this change a long time ago but my focus has just been elsewhere too much. But the reason is, the records and rankings get more meaningless the more watered down they get, imo. And the more obscure fights there are, the more watered down they get.

The point of the league was to see who really knows their boxing.

When rankings are being seperated by fights where theres very limited or sometimes barely any footage at all of both guys, or theres so many fights that many of the players arent realistically knowing the matchups taking place, the records and rankings begin to lose their meaning. If that makes sense?

Lastly, if the rankings were easier to manage with less fights I could consider getting more mods in here to help with the updates. But right now many people experience the hurricane that is doing the udpates and wanna quit lol.

Again, none of this is aimed at CST.

Its just a managerial move that I think should be tried for 2025 to at least see how everyone feels about the shift.
