Did Fury doubt himself before Usyk 1?

This is true, But as I don't rate the competition, he could beat them much easier

Can't remember Floyd getting busted up as much fighting better opponents

I do rate Usyk, just not as a top tier ATG. He's a level below for me. Still a fantastic fighter and it's just an opinion. Most will disagree but it is my honest opinion

I hear you, but again it does have the feel of apples to oranges comparison. I’m not sure you can even transfer anything between weight classes that far apart. Heavyweight is just different from the rest in terms of the probability of a fighter much less skill full than you ironing you out. That has to factor in how you fight. Something that is less of a factor in the lower weights. In Usyks case, he’s giving up so much physical advantages and that has to count for something. My 2c

I’m not even sure Floyd ever had a reach disadvantage in any of his big fights

    Sure you can.

They are some people so poor that all they have is money.

Ever ask yourself why billionaires keep working eighty hour weeks?

You are hardly describing Tyson Fury there.

Fury is arrogant. I believe with all my heart that Fury believes he can beat any HW even if he doesn't train hard. I believe that Fury even now believes he could go in half trained and still beat Usyk, even after losing. Nah, I don't think he doubted himself.

The original point was that Fury was deliberately pricing himself out of the fight - with the money ultimately offered he could no longer employ that tactic to deter a match and excuse himself from facing Usyk.

Yes this is exactly what I thought. I reckon Usyk was the first opponent Fury had that he wasn't 100% convinced that he could beat him. I think he will be more relaxed in the second fight knowing that he can hang with Usyk. I think that Fury was genuinely surprised with the success he did have in the first fight which is why he made that comment that it was an easy fight. You can't take that as meaning he thought the fight was easy I think what he really meant was it wasn't as difficult as he thought.

Fury is coming to win and has a very real chance of doing so. Usyk deserved the win in the first fight but to write Fury off is insane.

I've never really thought Belly Slice was 100% PURE bona fide confident in his own abilities. Real self belief. I think he has at many times surprised himself.

He kinda reminds me of a loud yapping dog. Unlike a low growling fully intentional one...

I've got money on it. Odds are quite generous considering

Fury’s prior dismissals of Usyk were inversely proportional to the very real threat that he knew the Ukrainian posed.

Fury may or may not take away net positives from the first fight.

His being in denial re several features of the fight isn’t necessarily a promise of realistic confidence.

Fury might’ve respected and was wary of Usyk’s boxing abilities before the fact but I don’t know that he necessarily forecast Usyk’s ability to hurt him as he did - Usyk basically having stopped Fury in the 9th round of the first fight.

Yeah, Fury was threatened by Usyk. Fury is normally the one with the better skills and endurance and determination. Combined with his size it took him this far.

Usyk can match him or outdo him in skills and endurance due to his smaller stature. So the size difference was going to have to make up for it.

I think when Usyk handled AJ and Dubious it was clear Usyk could handle size issues and was going to be a real problem.

Fury gave Usyk his due in the first face-off.

For Fury it's a bit of a nightmare situation because he actually does have the best skills at (natural) HW and it would have stayed that way if Usyk had stayed at cruiser. Then this cruiser comes up and spoils the party.
