He has impressed me, but not alot Just another champion that has been champ in 2 divisions and the competition decent at best I don't buy into the whole 4 belt undisputed stuff. Champs in history only had 1, then 2 belts and defended titles much more than him and against stellar opposition So to cut a long story short, yes he is impressive, but I have been impressed by many more fighters in the last 30 years. Right now a solid top 50 fighter all time if I'm being kind. If he takes a loss vs a guy who got beat by an mma guy making his debut? then he is way off imo He needs to smash Fury easily for me to hold the same opinion Other goat candidates usually learned from the first match and performed much better in the return If he is the Goat, he should win every second of every round, now that he knows what he's up against How did Floyd do in his rematches vs castillo and Maidana? So let's see if usyk can do the same and win easy like everyone thinks
Dubios is clearly ahead of AJ at this point. There's a reason AJ refuses to rematch him. And arguably Chisora has a deeper resume than AJ if you're including losses. Doesn't look much better does it?
At this point, yes, but I don't count him as a part of Fury/AJ/Usyk era. He's new blood. Chisora lost every time he stepped up. I'm only counting the wins. AJ was a unified title holder with 7 Top 10 guys beaten. His resume is from another stratosphere than Chisora's. No disrespect to Chisora tho. He's the best gatekeeper ever.
Given that their era hasn't ended yet he's very much apart of it. Factoring in his losses and his poor form as of late it's pretty hard for him to become 2nd of this era, especially if Fury went on to defeat Dubios.
Well, if Fury loses to Usyk by KO, as in the OP, then it's another opponent he performed worse against than AJ. Which leaves the topic of number 2 of this era open. If Fury were to beat not only Usyk but Dubois too, it would place him in the Top 10 HW of all time in my opinion. But if he beats Usyk, than the debate who's number 2 is over anyway.
Usyk will not KO Fury anymore than he did last time. Good punch but not a KO punch. However, if Fury loses by decision he should retire. What's the point if he can't even beat Usyk at his point. That said he's one solid liver shot away from winning.
Nah, AJ doesn't magically jump to number 2 with 2 brutal KO losses to Ruiz and Dubios, even if Usyk pulls off a KO in the rematch.
Furys the kind of maniac to be turning out for another beating aged 47. His ego won't tolerate not being in the spotlight.
Being honest or not (Fury often contradicts himself), he has said that it’s ALL about the money, not legacy etc. So, if he was KO’d by Usyk but the right $$$ was on offer after the fact, he would likely fight - and as many have already noted, the obvious $$$ fight would be against AJ. Otherwise, yeah, he’d probably sail off into the sunset.
No, you have misread. You said that you did not think Fury will be stopped because he wasn't, and I am pointing out that in the same scenario with a different ref, he will.
I said that Usyk basically threw the kitchen sink at Fury and couldn't finish the job. The ref is unlikely to make a different call no matter who it is, and won't wave off either fighter without giving them every single benefit of the doubt because it's a high profile fight.
But he CAN make a difference for the reasons we discussed. All he has to do is get a more lenient ref.
