Fury shut Wlad down, using his size and relative mobility to control distance. Despite the lack of action, which was essentially down to a stymied Wlad, it was an excellent performance from Fury.

No version of Wlad ever beats that version of Fury.

I recall Wlad also not looking good against Jennings. No doubt Fury's size and movements were a factor, but I felt something was off with Wlad in 2014/2015.
He looked better and far more determined against Joshua.

There are multiple factors to consider I suppose, but it's difficult not to notice how Wlad very much toned down his 'jab-and-grab' approach against Jennings, in his first fight on US soil for many years. I strongly suspect that he was read the riot act before the fight, which forced him to adjust his tactics. Even then, I seem to recall he was docked a point for excessive holding, late in the fight. Add in that Jennings, despite his limitations, was a genuine trier and we saw a more competitive fight than we'd usually see involving Wlad.

Joshua, on the other hand, was an entirely different style of fighter to Fury and one that I think Wlad viewed as a known quantity in a bout that Wlad probably deemed his 'last hurrah'. I suspect Wlad knew that he had more than a good chance of getting Joshua out of there - especially that version of Joshua who was not as defensively minded as he would later become. This informed Wlad's strategy and, given what actually happened in the fight and how close he came, it was probably his best bet. A younger version of Wlad would have beat Joshua in my opinion.

But I'm not convinced of the same, when it comes to Fury, who I consider to be a better pure boxer than both Wlad and Joshua. With this in mind, I'd say Fury's size and movement would always present too much of a challenge for Wlad, whose Steward-based safety-first strategy would prevent him from breaking down the wall Fury created, allowing the latter to control the action. Even if Wlad attempted to turn it into a fire fight, I think Fury is canny enough to turn the tables on Wlad, in the majority of the exchanges, and come out of them looking the better.

Possibly, Corro was no blood and guts warrior and if Valdez could get to him more, he might go into a shell. But Rodrigo did have genuine big issues with his clunky footwork and getting set against movers, so I wouldn't count Corro out as being able to upset him at any time.

Well, I had to think long and hard about it before deciding, Fergy. Afterall Jake Paul has only ever been defeated by one guy in his entire career and as good as a prime Mike Tyson was, he’s definitely no Tommy Fury.

He may well have done but both fights, presumably at Lightweight where all three were arguably at their best, would have been very good fights to watch.

Yes let's not underestimate the beast that is Jake Paul.
Any idea who he'll feed on next ken??

Maybe he'll go through the remaining 80 s Heavyweight s, or Are they still too dangerous yet?

Agree on all. A decrepit Ali did quite well against future machete victim Berbick. An underrated performance.

I'd add Wilfredo Gomez over Azumah Nelson at Junior Featherweight to that list.

That’s not really a legit matchup, though, as Nelson never fought below featherweight.
