Takayama is swiveling at the hip and planting vicious hooks into either side of Lu above his beltline. Lu is hanging in there, defending himself intelligently, clinching, and winging big overhand rights - but unable to reverse the tide. Takayama still spry and bouncing on his toes nearly 3/4 of the way into this contest. Takayama backhands a jab into Lu's stomach and flurries on him as he drives him into the corner. Lu is jumping with hooks and missing as Takayama pulls out. Lu getting pasted every time he opens himself up.

Championship rounds coming up. Takayama has been a full twelve rounds on ten occasions in his career. Lu has actually never been past five completed rounds - so needless to say, he's in deep water.

 

Round 10

Takayama is coming at Lu with his usual recipe but Lu has decided to sell out and whip hooks up top with both hands while marching in to meet him. Crowd is going wild, the Filipinos have gotten behind Lu as the underdog. Wild shots by Lu, getting jolted by stiff counter jabs from Takayama. Lu decides to rethink his approach, and clinches again. Ref warns for leading with his head. Some dirty boxing as they hang onto each other with a hand apiece. Lu with an uppercut but takes a counter left hook. Big flurry by Takayama. Lu falls into him exhaustedly.

Round 11

Takayama is slugging right hands at the head (or bent neck) of Lu, and then posting up inside and ripping hooks as Lu grabs at him. Lu with a few good chopping shots in an exchange up close! Maybe his best sequence all day there. Takayama is peppering the face of Lu with jabs and rights, and Lu is placing his hands behind Takayama's thighs for purchase, and they both go down, with mad ass Takayama still wailing on him as they collapse into a pile. Time in. Big right hand by Takayama. Lu snatches his arms and twists them overhead, then lets go per ref's orders and tries trading with Takayama. Jabs pot shotted while floating clockwise by Takayama.

Round 12

Takayama is leading with the right hand and still finding the chin of Lu whenever he wants. Lu is now becoming more mobile and elusive instead of just clinching nonstop. Lu caught by a jab and right hand flush as Takayama leaps in to pounce on him. Lu down as Takayama flurries in, ruled a tackle not a knockdown. Takayama now taunting Lu, thrusting his jaw out at him from a couple of paces away. Takayama beckons with his left fist, imploring Lu to stand and fight like a warrior in the last frame. Takayama is mauling Lu and gets put in a headlock. Ref in there promptly to break them up whenever Lu clinches. Takayama tosses a body shot as Lu charges and billygoats him with the point of his crown smashing into Takayama's face. Big flurry by Takayama, going for a dramatic late KO! Lu scrabbles at the body a bit, and tries clinching.
