Crazy how we will never see AJ vs Wilder or Fury vs AJ with at least 1 of them in their primes.

    Very disappointing

Except that hasn't had much bearing on how often Usyk fights. He's usually the one who sets that hard limits in between fights in the post fight presser.

Point remains you can't exactly call it the Usyk Era with such a short time in heavyweight.

This was a very good heavyweight era in the sense that it was unpredictable and almost all of the big fights lived up to the hype mixed in with other exciting fights like Chisora vs Joyce, Whyte vs Parker, Wilder vs Ortiz etc

Well, Joshua dictated the timing of Joshua v Usyk 1 and Usyk v Joshua 2. Fury dictated the timing of Usyk v Fury 1 until the Saudi's stepped in. The Saudi's now dictate the timing of Usyk v Fury 2. Though, I will always agree that Usyk should have fought Dubois + one other before Fury V Usyk 1. At best we can say they were all as bad as each other.

Usyk kinda dictated the timing of the second fight, as he pushed it back due to the war effort and him coming back to Ukraine. But yet again, who wouldn't do that?

Fury and Joshua are going to fight even if Fury loses which I expect him to do. That fight would still do big business in the UK and would be a nice retirement check for all involved.

If Fury somehow beats usyk and fights Joshua, he will tear him to bits in the lead up and trigger him so bad

Guys that can't trash talk have had Aj seeing red, Fury would absolutely make a fool out of him

    Hi Buddy.
In full agreement, as one poster saying about Fury v AJ would close the era down, I have no interest in that fight whatsoever, Joshua is busted flush, be glad to see the back of his arrogance and bluster, as for the foul mouthed Fury, his demeaning of opponents , the fake hostility, last time he shared a ring with Usyk he kissed and cuddled him after the fight, now all the pretend hatred, it's all so boring, seen it many times before, it means nothing, I have lived through the best, the very best, this lot are pretenders.
    stay safe ikasevic, chat soon.

Fights between top contenders generally didn't happen.

So let us look at A.J's defenses.

    Eric Molina (journeyman)
    Dominick Breazeale (statue)
    Wlad K (old)
    Joe Parker (Ref)
    Carlos Takam (edge contender)
Andy Ruiz x 2 (fat and fatter)
    A. Povetkin (past it)
    K. Pulev (weak)
    Usyk (loses twice)

Not exactly murder's row. He was tested in the 3 fights and lost all 3.

I'll agree with that, it's one of the worst eras ever if not the worst.

I'm torn between the most recent era and the Klitschko brothers era.

The Klitschko's were dominant, but outside of a few decent opponents, it was a very weak era full of opponents tailor made for the brothers. I lost count of the amount of smaller, fat, flat footed, wheezing plodders with zero upper body movement the Klitschko's fought. Not their fault. Between them, they pretty much fought every top ranked opponent out there (Valuev being the obvious one they didn't fight off the top of my head). It was just a very uninspiring era.

Added to that, the top contenders at the time spent more time avoiding each other so as they didn't get beat and lose a potential fight against the brothers who were the biggest cash cows in the HW scene at the time. This era had the same problem until the Saudis rocked up.

That the king of this heavyweight era is still up for grabs only adds another level of intrigue to the fight this weekend.

I don't agree. You're comparing Usyk, Fury and Joshua as worse than Carnera, Baer and Braddock? Please.....U, F and AJ are head and shoulders above C, B and B physically, in terms of athleticism, and boxing skills. We're those guys tougher...maybe so as times were hard and we all know Braddocks story. But Usyk has a war background. Fury has overcome mental issues and Joshua was an Olympic champ.

2020's crap all over the 1930's HW boxing champs...up until Louis.

It's been an enjoyable, very good era. With one of the greatest to ever lace up the gloves (Usyk) moving up and establishing himself as number 1.

    Usyk vs Fury 1 & 2
    Usyk vs Joshua 1& 2
    Fury vs Wilder 1,2 & 3
    Joshua vs Ruiz 1 & 2
    Joshua vs Povetkin
    Joshua vs Klitschko
    Fury vs Klitschko
    Wilder vs Ortiz 1 & 2
    and so on..

I particularly loved the Usyk vs Fury 1 fight. Ukraine vs UK - the two dominant nations in heavyweight boxing in recent times. It was a brilliant high level fight for all the belts between 2 exceptional fighters, the best of this era in a fight that swung back and forth. Great advert for boxing. Both fighters showed up and brought their A game. Can't wait for the rematch :)

Hail Eddie Hearn, Frank Warren and Turki.
