I don't understand what was the purpose/game-plan, expected him to impose more his physicality in the clinch but maybe he simply couldn't apply it enough and decided to... box?
    What are your thoughts?

I think he trained hard but his body is just destroyed. After the Wilder II fight he clearly went on a bender which led all the way up to the first Usyk fight. It's clear he went to his secret Malta camp to be away from drugs and alcohol. He probably had to go through a form of rehab for the first few months after the first Usyk fight.

His plan of coming in heavier wasn't a bad one, he just doesn't have the engine to implement it now.

He looked slow so yeah it backfired. Still spent most of the fight on the backfoot so what exactly was the point of the extra weight?

well he didn’t get bounced around the ring like a ping pong ball this time, so that’s something

Came in heavy in order to backpeddle and pitter patter.

    Lol.

I never really understood this argument that he needed to come in heavy and 'big man Usyk in the rematch.' Impose his size etc. If it was that easy someone else would have done it first - including Fury in fight 1.

Please give credit to Usyk. It's easy to say impose yourself on him, walk him down, clinch him, man handle him but like Fury said in an interview, if it was so easy the likes of Joshua, Dubois would have done it. Usyk has to many tools and tactics up his sleeve combined with the elite fitness and ring iq ie non stop feinting, unpredictable side to side movements, relentless combinations, unpredictable volume assault and he drains you and explodes on you in the middle and championship rounds when you have expended 90% of your gas tank.

He is just too good and the greatest fighter of this generation.

Yes. He needed to maximise his stamina as much as possible so he could impose himself for as much time as possible. That’s how he had success. Whether he was boxing Usyk or roughing him up Tyson absolutely needed to be on the front foot to beat him.

Usyk would still likely be too much for him but that was Fury’s best shot

The weight factor helped him in this fight. Let's be honest 250 lbs or 290 lbs, he was never going to out work or out move Usyk in the ring or have his reserves of energy.

The extra weight power helped him in this fight but Usyk ultimately was too good

Too light in the first fight, too heavy in the second. Imo his sweet spot would have been 270.

I'd agree with the suggestion that Fury's volatile lifestyle has somewhat taken a toll on his physical attributes, mainly his speed - his power has seemed questionable too, but Usyk is so bloody good at blocking shots. I have noticed this since the Ngannou fight. Also, I really did not like how Fury did not build upon his combos unlike Usyk, in a way he was not brave enough but he was also very fearful of being hit with a counter.

We can't use that against Usyk as he is a fantastic fighter who has also beaten other top dogs in AJ and Dubois.

he half assed the whole thing because its who he is. he doesnt have the backbone to do the work and find out who he really is. and thereby revealing who he really is.

Exactly as I see it. Losing too much weight is not good at that age, and obviously, putting it on was no good.

He could have come in at any weight and still lost. The weight wasn't the problem.
