    This heavyweight era isn't weak.
The problem in 2024 is, people still hyping up the likes of Usyk, Fury and Joshua .... and mostly ignoring the actual 'live' contenders out there.
I wouldn't rate fat old Fury's chances right now to survive against the young guns of the division. Men like Dubois, Wardley, Bakole, even Itauma, would probably stop him now. Also, the old guy Zhilei Zhang might give Fury a lot of problems.
If Usyk decides to fight on on face the winner of Dubois-Parker, that's actually a far better win than his wins over Fury.

It was only a few months ago that hordes of fans were convinced Anthony Joshua was going to re-etablish himself as the number 1 in the division, if Usyk retires.
It's all this hype for a selected few 'elite' fighters at the expense of others, that makes the division look weak.
Usyk is a brilliant boxer but there are several heavyweights out there being largely ignored by the media and the fans.

Why do nostalgics try to underestimate Usyk, Heavyweight Era is not weak, Usyk is simply too good...

Usyk is brilliant AND this heavyweight era is pretty weak, outside the top 5 there`s not much depth at all.

Kabayel is not that big ( not small either) yet he is doing pretty well
Joseph Parker (6ft3 on celebheights) is doing fine
    Usyk 6ft2.5
Moses Itauma 6ft2 by far one of the best young prospects
It's size that is overrated, not the era

Didin't Foreman show that the 90's were even worse by winning the title at 45 then?

The Americans would have buried him under a tipper truck of money. He'd be able to endorse used chewing gum, sugar toothpicks and inflatable diapers and get paid for it.

Ali fought some big guys (Ernie Terrell I think was 6’6 and those days they didn’t exaggerate height like now), so did Mike Tyson.

Tyson fury is not 6’9 btw. Probs 6’7

I unfortunately agree. Not to take anything away from a true generational talent and ATG, but he mopped up a very shallow division in terms of talent, with big personalities behind them.

Not in terms of skill because he was being soundly out-boxed before the final round, it`s just that Moorer couldn`t take his power, I feel Usyk could have though.

The height difference between Fury and Usyk wa far more than the differrence between Ali and Terrel, plus Fury has a longer reach than Terrell had and more speed.

All true, unfortunately. Boxing sucks. Snooker players have more athletic skills than boxers. I don't know why I post in here. Waste of time, really.

    Merry Christmas.

No because Foreman won the title off Moorer and Moorer won the title off a very under par Holyfield with heart problems. Which was a fortunate set of circumstances and then he got destroyed in the rematch by Holyfield, Foreman also didn't defend his title against any top 10 contenders.

The top guys in the 90s were Bowe, Holyfield, Tyson, Lewis, and a Foreman in his 40s wouldn't beat them any of them nor would a majority of the Heavyweights now hence the 90s is not overrated.

It was a pretty crap era when it was just Fury Joshua and Wilder fannying about but in recent years a lot more talent has emerged and it’s actually a deep division now, even if most of them are still overrated

The bar must be lowered because of the age so he didin't have to beat them all to prove my point.

He was competitive with prime Holyfield and he would probably have been competitive with them all because he is an ATG I believe.

It doesn't take away from the 90's and I believe Usyk's run doesn't take away from this era (which is at least the third best ever) because Usyk is na ATG too.
