What dyou think? Ruiz only got kod in his good year's by Tua, do you see Wilder planting him in the ground? Or could Ruiz's tactic s see him through?
Ruiz believe it or not might be a bad style match up for Wilder his clinching and mauling on the inside would be very problematic for Wilder who can't fight on the backfoot and needs distance to release that powerful right hand at range.
I see either a horribly uneventful mauling fight where Wilder never gets proper range and extension because Ruiz is good at making fights ugly, or Wilder sparks him out with a big shot. I imagine even if Wilder did find him it would take 9 or 10 rounds. Does anyone here remember the Ruiz from BEFORE the Tua bout? Funny how perceptions change... not that Ruiz didn't change too.
Although Wilder certainly had the power to KO Ruiz, i could easily envision Ruiz frustrating Wilder and winning an ugly decision on the cards. As bad a Ruiz was, Wilder had some legitimate struggles with fighters far worse than Ruiz.
I dunno, Wilder can catch him but Ruiz is a clinch and maul master, can't see Wilder easily putting Ruiz to his graveyard.
Ruiz would do the same thing to Wilder that he did to Rahman and Kirk Johnson, two men that held pretty much every stylistic advantage against him and were still pretty much shut down and stifled. If it's one thing Ruiz can do, it's that he can shut down power and speed. It would be a hideous looking fight though because Wilder already doesn't throw a lot. Then even his little activity getting cut in half.
