Quarry has the better all-around boxing skills and he should win it. That said, if a fight wasn't going Quarry's way, he could get discouraged and let it slip away from him. He would have to stay focused and be content to box Bonavena without any lapses (think the Chuvalo fight.) Bonavena lost to a number of the better fighters of his era, but seldom if ever did anyone look good in beating him. This would be a tough fight but certainly a crowd-pleaser!
I think Quarry might have difficulty trying to time/counter Bonavena's unorthodox/unpredictable attack. I'd give the edge to Oscar.
Quarry, the styles favour him. Stay away, wait for Bonavena to commit and look to counter him, he’d land enough counters and would land more and better punches if he stuck to the game plan.
Quarry earns a convincing decision in a fairly exciting back and forth match. Probably 7 rounds up, 1 round even, 4 to Oscar. Quarry's accuracy, counters, and ring IQ get him the nod. Oscar would keep Quarry honest with his awkward rough style and high volume of punches, but he never manages to find a good rhythm.
Hi Buddy. Like your synopsis, don't normally go for posts where the rounds are called, but I can see the fight as you describe, yours is a neat and precise breakdown of the fighters and likely outcome, also shows an awareness of both skill sets, you know your boxing and the 70s heavyweight scene, many thanks. stay safe GCC, chat soon buddy.
Jerry easily if he fights smart like he was very capable of doing. If he decides to trade with Oscar, that changes things considerably. Oscar could bang and take a punch. The type of fight would be Jerry's to control, so I pick him.
Fighting Harada hasn't had anywhere near the amount of threads either of these men have had. I will justify this. Either man probably WOULD BEAT Fighting Harada. Sure, they called him 'Fighting' but he wasn't out there fighting either of these guys. Amiright?
