Has Usyk had a greater impact on the sport than the Klitschko brothers?

I don't need OP to explain to me the difference between the concepts of 'impact on the sport' and who is the better fighter. Two completely different things.

Usyk definitely, I personally underestimated him and said that he has no chance in the heavyweight division, but he convinced me, as many have said here, he is a small heavyweight and he beat physically bigger fighters than him, and that says it all...

No. The K brothers were transformative they wrested power from America after 100 year run of dominance. By beating an entire generation of American fighters and establishing Europe as a place matches could be held consistently and make money it’s changed the landscape of division.

 

Didnt Lennox accomplish that first? Klis wete considered boring. If theu were exciting they would have had vegas fights.

 

No. Most people in this thread didn't understand the question. But maybe it's not that obvious from the US and UK.

Klitschko brothers were one of the first commercially successful boxers from the Eastern Europe after the collapse of the Soviet Union and boosted the interest in boxing in Ukraine and beyond; and were one of the few who introduced the Eastern European scene to the professional boxing in late 90s.

Besides, they established the K2 promotions company, who promoted both GGG and Usyk...

While Usyk had a more successful career than both brothers, he hasn't yet left the same impact on the sport.

No Lewis performed mop up duty on the faded heavyweights of the 80s in Holyfield and Tyson. His run was too short.
Wlad beat- Shufford, Jefferson, Byrd, Jennings, Mccline, Brock, Chambers, Williamson etc etc and by being unpopular in the States it allowed the sport to flourish in Europe and take root for first time in decades. It’s now been nearly a quarter of century without America holding many marquee fights in the biggest division

 

Those are actually good points. Wladimir and Vitali really helped put the sport on the map more overseas in Europe than it was at any point in history. Especially Wladimir. The balance of power in the HW division definitely shifted and I loved it.

I think Usyk made a huge impact in his own way with his awesome skills and personality that makes it hard for anyone not to like him unless there is an agenda going.

I think all three made impacts in their own ways.

 

The Klits had longer careers, fought before bigger crowds and one married a movie star. They win.

Yes, a guy who gives up size and strength against the top fighters at the highest weight class in boxing. And he has done it on the road, usually in his opponent’s backyard. I’ll miss watching him fight when he retires. Usyk is a historic fighter.

I respect the Klitchko brothers and what they accomplished but hated watching their fights. When they retired, I didn’t mind. Big slow fighters with boring fighting style, and often overmatched opponents.
