He needs to avoid big punchers right now. Historically, he has done well vs them. But now he is overweight and more easy to hit. And the punch resistance has declined. A fight with Kabayel is probably the best thing for him. He needs to trim down and improve his endurance. He would be 50-50 vs Kabayel right now.
God no. Talk of Usyk rematching Dubois is bad enough. Fury should fight Joshua or someone else. I think Fury v AJ makes more money than Usyk v Fury III at this point too. Thats the fight to make.
Why stop at a trilogy? Usyk should fight Fury ten times or until Fury wins, whichever comes first. Then Fury can declare himself "his child from his mother" or whatever nonsense he usually spouts and everybody can say how amazing he is for finally getting a win over Usyk.
Has that ever happened before at the top level? Two close fights where the victor comes out on top twice in a row officially, a second rematch occurs? Name one. At the top level, world championship calibre that is.
Yes. Usyk should fight Fury again. Then another two with Dubois. A quick shoeshine with Joshua, and then ride off into the sunset with a Chisora rematch, because why the **** not?
Marquez and Pacquiao? Albeit there were large caps between the fights. Still crazy that they fought 4 times. But I figure the real answer is a big fat no. Edit: Terry Norris! He lost back to back fights to Luis Santana, and then got a third one. But Norris got DQ´d in those first two fights.
I don’t it’s bad to have a trilogy, look at Jersey Joe Walcott vs Edward Charles, there are more example where someone beat someone twice then lost to that guy, Pacquiao vs Marquez is another example.
Usyk is to Fury what Fury was to Wilder..... Just without the domination and extracurricular nonsense surrounding the losses afterwards. We really don't need a trilogy as I'm not sure Fury would be able to do much more than he has already in order to get a win. But if a 3rd fight is to be made, I'm sure I'd be more excited to see it than the 3rd Fury/Wilder fight.
We all know the probabilities example involving a primate, a typewriter and the complete works of Shakespeare. Given enough tries, the old bard-sterd (see what I did there? ) Fury just might clack out the win……one day.
Its true. Fury would view a single win over Usyk as the be all, end all “catch up” absorbing all Olek’s credits, (eg victories over AJ and Dubois - therefore “no need” for Tyson to fight them) reinstalling him (if he ever was properly installed in the first place) as the eras # 1 fighter. Imo, Fury should fix up the mess that was the Ngannou fight and then fight AJ. Most ATGs are compelled to revisit and deal with such struggles before moving on. Just because of AJ’s own emphatic victory over Ngannou, Fury shouldn’t receive any “credit” for same, he needs to get in the ring himself and prove his own superiority over Francis…if he can. So many years talking, now do some fighting Tyson.
If this was pre-1960s when fighters were much more active and a loss wouldn't stain their records as badly in the public eye (albeit this is being corrected currently via the increasing popularity of the UFC + Saudi cash) then I would be happy to see a trilogy. I'd happily see a fourth Fury-Wilder fight tbh. But in today's context, then no, and every time Usyk faces a British heavyweight, he goes up against the British/global boxing establishment, with WW1 levels of gaslighting and 1984 levels of propaganda, which I could do without rotting my brain. If Usyk rematches Dubois, which is a perfectly fine thing to do, the same pack of clowns will be trotted out to spew the same rubbish we've been putting up with since the pre-Ruiz AJ days, which only worsened under the Fury-Warren partnership
At this stage, I would say that there is nothing out there for Usyk. He's already beaten all relevant rivals. Usyk has a great legacy and I don't think there's anyone active at the moment that could enhance it. If he wants to make money and Fury is the biggest pay day, he should fight him again.
