70's Foreman versus Emanuel Steward trained Wladimir klitschko

Would Klitschko straight right hand get thru Foreman's looping punches or would Foreman just overwhelm him with his power?

 

I'm taking Big George to bomb him out

 

I think that Wlad with his size gives him trouble and maybe outboxes him for a while but once George lands a bomb its over.

Like Moorer-Foreman.

 

Wlad had such a size advantage against most of his foes during the Steward era that he looked almost untouchable at times. While he was a bit bigger and certainly more technically sound than Big George his advantages are not that great. At some point George would hit him and Wlad, whose chin was good but not great, would go down. The second knockdown would put him down for good.

Be stunned if Wlad made it to round 5, George cuts the ring off and ,,,,,,,,

 

Remember, Ali reverted to rope-fighting George because of his terrific ring cutting,while Ali wasn't as big as Wlad,his IQ,grappling and footwork were better imo,and Foreman neutralized most of it that Ali had to rope a dope and finally catch a lightning in a bottle.

I believe that while Wlad could tire George with the clinches a bit,if he gasses out from those ruthless body works first...game over.

 

Wlad via KO. It would be like his fight against Shufford.

 

I honestly don't know. Conventional wisdom says Foreman, but Wlad Klitchsko was bigger, hit perhaps as hard and had better fundamentals.

Klitschko comes into this fight knowing the only strategy is to use his jab, movement and grabbing to completely frustrate Big George. In the early rounds Klitschko has some good success in controlling the pace and not getting hit flush, however Foreman eventually breaks through. Once he lands a huge right, Dr Steelhammer isn’t able to recover.

Verdict: TKO win to Foreman in Round Five.

Wlad all day long.

He has every advantage over Foreman except chin.

Faster, straighter punches with more reach. He's got the footwork to keep it at range and the size and strength to tie Foreman up as per his usual gameplan. Wlad is the more technical fighter and if Foreman thinks Lyle hit hard then Wlad will introduce him to a new world of pain. Foreman even has the same weakness pre-Steward Wlad has, namely the tendency to get over excited in his offense and gas spectacularly.

The only thing driving the Foreman bias here is Classic nostalgia and the unwillingness to sit down and analyse the matchup.

 

I’ve got Wlad—his 1-2 would mess Foreman up big time

 

The way I see the fight playing out, Wladmir wins many rounds with his jab and grab spamming until he gets caught by a looping bomb and is staggered. Foreman being a superb finisher knocks him down. Problem is, Wlad is taller and a superb grappler so his octopus tactics delays the finish. Wladmir goes back to his old tactics and is wearing Foreman out from all the jabs, 1-2's, and leaning.

I think what it boils down to is if A) Wladmir can remain defensively responsible with good accuracy throughout the hour and B) if the ref is lenient and let's him clinch a lot. With those two factors, I see a Wladmir decision win or late round TKO. However, if Foreman invests in body shots, trades blows, and the ref takes points away for too much grappling, Foreman could potentially land a bomb that ends the fight. Wladmir did not actually have great defense and did not recover well, his concept of defense was to simply cover up or hold on. Foreman's guard manipulation and framing would pick this apart unless Wladmir managed to nail him first.

There's many ways this bout could go depending on ring size, the ref, and the tactics of both fighters. I would say Wladmir should be slightly favored more often than not

 

Or perhaps its the 3 stoppage losses Wlad has or the fact he was knocked down by Samuel Peter of all people.

 

Hard to say. Wladimir's knockout losses against lesser fighters, and Foreman's credentials as a puncher, seemingly points to a KO win for George. However, you have assume Wladimir would be more mindful and defensively focused against Foreman than likes of Purity, Brewster and Sanders.

Wladimir would likely go into the fight hellbent on not getting KOed, using footwork, jabbing and hugging George like he just came home for Christmas. Depending on the judge, he may even get a points reduction during the first half of the fight.

However, I could also see George tiring and dropping rounds in the second half of the fight, with Wladimir's conservative approach helping him maintain stamina down the stretch.

However, in a scenario where George is an unknown quantity, you have to favour him knocking Wladimir out.
