Fury is too big and hence too hittable for Liston.

And i am someone who thinks Fury is being underrated now a days after the Usyk fights. But i stil heavily favour Liston.

Liston was not a small man. He was 6'1 and about 215 lbs. About 7-8 lbs lighter than Usyk.

While Liston did not have Usyk's footwork or southpaw slickness, i will bet you my life that Liston hit harder than Usyk. Not that Usyk isn't a good puncher (he is), but Liston was a marvelous puncher.

Liston's reported reach of 84 inches is perhaps an exaggeration. However, based on the pics, he most likely had a very large reach of 81 or 82 inches. Hence, i don't think he will struggle to land on Fury with those long arms.

Liston isn't a crude fighter like Wilder. He will hurt Fury with his jab and power right hands to the body. He will attack him with hard left hooks. Could Fury endure those? I doubt it.

The younger Fury who beat Wlad might have an outside chance of winning a decision over Liston. But not the later versions. And even then, i don't think Liston will be as gun shy as Wlad was.

And before anyone compares Fury to Ali, Ali was hurting Liston with 5-6 punch combinations from round 1. How many times does Fury throw 5-6 punch combo's with speed and power?

Liston by late stoppage. The big man is too hittable despite his excellent movement for such a large man. His large body just makes him too much of a target.

Liston would beat that overrated mf like a drum...Fury was called "skilled" because in this era you have guys like Wilder with no skills and stiff bodybuilder like Joshua.

Fury was only looking skilled against those guys until he met someone with good but not great skills in Usyk.

Usyk was good but not in the level of Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe...and he beat Fury like a drum.

Fury also can't take good punch since Usyk was not even a great puncher and a smaller man, while Liston is top 5 punchers of all time.

There was a lot of hype that Fury was next Ali but for me even contenders like Jimmy Young were faster and more skilled than sloppy fat Fury.

We just proved how these mf today are overrated, just look at their skills for god sake, even 1920s HWs were more accurate and skilled than these mofos.

Anyway Liston would be long champion in this era except Usyk could be stylistic problem for him.

Very good stylistic match up. Have to remember Foreman said the only man that ever was able to literally bully and literally push him back, and make him fight on the backfoot was Sonny Liston.

Liston is all wrong for Fury. He's a very, very disciplined boxer who can hit. As his trainer said, 'If Charles can touch you, Charles can hurt you'. I don't actually think you need Usyk's speed of foot to beat Tyson, a fighter I really, really rate, you just have to be careful where you put your feet, and how long you leave them there. Liston was a very precise boxer, always in range, and, like Fury, has a great gauge of space. I honestly think he keeps Fury off balance and honest with jabs to the body and head and has the power and will to back him up. Liston might be the smaller man, but he's too much man here for Fury who might even be stopped with his back to the ropes late in the fight. Fury's unorthodox style is backed up with a lot of heart and a great boxing brain. Ali's was backed up with genuine crazy like a fox reactions, incredible hand speed and incredible movement. You need ALL that to beat Liston at his best, guys a h2h monster....

Fury. He's too active and too good defensively for Liston to hit him clean. Even if Liston did hit him clean which I don't think would happen Fury would be able to take it. Wilder hits harder than Liston and Fury was able to fight back and win. Usyk won because he has good speed, footwork and the grit to win. Liston doesn't have good speed or footwork.

MOB likes Fury…Liston is too small & slow of foot & Tyson is huge & hella long…pre drug binge Fury would find Sonny very hittable & remember this version had a tank & could move…now Liston could punch so he could hurt Tyson but MOB just doesn’t think he would be able to land enough of ‘em together to get him out of there…UD12 Fury

Fury will **** his pants when Sonny locks eyes with him. Sonny wins this a lot easier than people think.

I admit up front that I do not follow boxing that closely anymore, but from what I have seen of Fury, he is very BIG. Maybe that's one of the few attributes he has going for him, but that can make it difficult for much smaller guys to get inside.
Liston has more of a reputation built on nostalgia and his myth has grown.

I don't see Sonny doing well against super-sized heavyweights because I think he'd be at the end of their punches, and wasn't fast enough to get inside. This includes others like the Klitschkos as well. Liston also had issues with swelling around the face.

Liston beats everyone ever within round 1 and every fight he ever went past 2 rounds or be lost in was AI generated, same with all the newspapers. All anti-Liston propoganda

I've googled everything you said and none of it is true.

Nevertheless, Fury goes night-night the first time Sonny touches Greedy Belly's chin.
