Man...I first scored it as an easy, lopsided win for McCallum, but I try to out my biased butt down and actually score the fight equal, and I got a draw of 115-115,close fight where it seems like McCallum were able to come back strong, only to be pushed by Toney's counters.
I only have problem with the other two cards, too wide....

    Any opinion?

Imo, the first two fights were as closely contested as you can get. I very rarely score even rounds in fights but McCallum vs Toney I had multiple rounds that were very even. With that said, their second fight, McCallum outlanded Toney by 100 punches. I gave those close rounds to him on activity. The argument always comes down to folks either preferring activity or Toney's better power punches.

I felt like the 1st draw was very close but Toney had a slightly better argument to winning it because i felt he had the better of it overall and won his rounds bigger even though i scored it a draw.

The 2nd fight i feel like Toney did slightly worse he wasn't active enough and McCallum outworked him to win a close decision.

James Toney vs Mike McCallum 1

    1 McCallum
    2 Toney
    3 McCallum
    4 Toney
    5 McCallum
    6 Toney
    7 McCallum
    8 Toney
    9 McCallum
    10 Toney
    11 McCallum
    12 Toney

    114-114 Draw

I've haven't seen this fight in years and this is the 1st time i've actually sat down and scored it properly but i have to say i loved this fight. Probably one of the highest skilled high paced technical fights ever real artistry beautiful fight.

What's funny about this fight is i don't think i've ever scored a fight with both men never winning 2 rounds in a row my scorecard must look really weird but that's how i saw it.

Overall it did appear to me that Toney did slightly have the better of it with his cleaner and much more effective punches especially with the right hand which was his money punch. And he did have the best moments in the fight hurting McCallum in rounds 10 and 12, especially the 12th round where it looked like McCallum was ready to go at the end.

But at times McCallum would outwork Toney with his jab and body punches and although i do like quality over quantity. In some rounds McCallum just landed too many punches overall for him not to be given those rounds.

I would say finally the draw is probably one of the most legit draws i've ever seen certainly nothing wrong with this fight being scored a draw as it was very close. But like i said it did appear Toney did have the better of it overall but looking at my RBR i scored it a draw so there you have it.

Mike McCallum vs James Toney 2

    1 Toney
    2 McCallum
    3 McCallum
    4 Toney
    5 McCallum
    6 McCallum
    7 Toney
    8 Toney 10-8 point deduction
    9 McCallum
    10 McCallum
    11 Toney
    12 McCallum

    114-113 McCallum

So i decided to watch their 2nd fight after watching the 1st fight last month, i thought this time around McCallum was unlucky not to get the decision. He went to the body more in this fight and out punched Toney to win a close decision IMO.

In the 1st fight Toney's power punches especially the right hand were alot more apparent, in the 2nd fight not so much and Toney didn't look as good in this fight and wasn't active enough for me overall.

The point deduction was total BS aswell and not needed, and the judges scorecards were horrendous aswell. McCallum outlanded Toney by 100 punches and lost by 117-110 on two scorecards ?

Overall not as good as their first fight but McCallum made a few adjustments and was slightly better with the jab in this fight and went to the body more. Toney i think overall looked slightly worse in the rematch he was not as active and his power punches were not as apparent or effective compared to their 1st meeting.

I'm curious how you scored the third fight? I thought Toney very clearly won that fight but two judges had it 115-113 which was way to close imo. As much as I love McCallum, I only gave him three rounds in that fight. He was in his 40's at that point and just couldn't let his hands go anymore. James was definitely more natural at Cruiserweight with his stocky build. Mike had skinny legs and never should have fought above 168 even though he did win a title at 175.

    Round 2 9-10 McCallum

    Round 3 10-9 Toney

    Round 4 10-9 Toney

    Round 5 10-9 Toney

    Round 6 9-10 McCallum

    Round 7 9-10 McCallum

    Round 8 10-8 Toney

    Round 9 10-9 Toney

    Round 10 10-9 Toney

    Round 11 9-10 McCallum

I've seen the 3rd fight but never actually scored it RBR but from memory i remember McCallum losing quite comprehensively on points i can't see 115-113 myself.

It's actually kind of bizarre if you think about it the 2nd fight is arguably McCallum's strongest performance vs Toney yet 2 of the judges had it very wide for Toney. Yet the 3rd fight which was by far McCallum's weakest performance vs Toney 2 judges had it very close go figure.

I sometimes wonder what the judges are seeing because it's not the same fight i'm watching.

I thought it was fair that Toney got the decision but it should have been scored closer. Toney may have knicked the first fight too but got a draw.

Both fights were hard to score because Toney was too economical with his punches - quality over quanity. He had this problem in many fights and it probably should have cost him against Dave Tiberi.

I thought Toney nicked it thanks to the point deductions on my card iirc, 114-113 Toney.

I've watched it a few times & always thought McCallum clearly outboxed Toney as well. He landed consistently solid punches throughout almost every round, whereas Toney often resorted to quick, ineffective "shoeshine" flurries. From a purely technical standpoint, I think it was 1 of McCallum's best performances, although neither fighter showed quite the same spirit & energy as in their 1st fight IMO. Conversely, I thought it was Toney's worst pre-Jones performance, even worse than the Tiberi fight (which I actually thought was less of a robbery than this 1).

Very close, could have gone either way but the scorecards were way too generous to Toney imo.

Both of the first two fights were very close and could have gone either way. The third meeting was wider in favor of Toney but by that time McCallum was older than shlt

Watched this many times and never saw the argument for Toney, so I'm leaning toward a robbery. Two of the cards were pretty atrocious as I recall, with a wide margin for Toney. Don't understand what fight they were watching.
