Ali would land more shots than most HW fighters. Different fighters have different strengths and weaknesses. In this case it wouldn't matter how many shots Alinlanded because he wouldn't have the blunt force trauma behind his blows that Lewis had so he wouldn't get him out of there as quick.
Lewis impressed me from the start...before the bell, when he aimed that hooded cobra death stare unceasingly on Briggs....he was a man on a mission...and even though briggs luckily caught an off balance LL briefly, his goose was cooked already....a very, very, very impressive performance by Lewis...and I'm going to watch it now.
lewis wanted to come with it .. he'd been called boring .. he wanted to brawl .. so he did he did that a lot between 97-2000 .. against briggs.. he did it with golota ..botha .. he did it with grant .. he went to war with a lot of guys and they couldn't bring it
It looked like Briggs went for broke convinced Lewis had a fragile chin in that first round, he was wrong, just about. but he had a pretty good go though, Lewis just outclassed him. I enjoyed that fight though, I agree with others that it was one of his best to watch, he showed his toughness "ok you can hit me, now its my turn". I don't think it showed Lewis was lacking at all, it was just that type of fight, you get a guy Briggs size coming at you like that its difficult to get the smooth boxing skills going so he just blasted him out in a brawl of a fight. Lewis didn't lie when he said he could adapt to different styles and situations.
Well put.!It showed a vulnerable side to Lennox ,getting tagged and shook by someone hr shouldn't have had problems with. But it showed Lewis s power against a guy trying to take his head off .Interesting fight while it lasted .
Lewis used to be my favourite fighter, but I`ve started going off him, ever since I`ve read comments on this forum saying he was miles better than AJ and Fury, I feel those two are vastly underrated on this forum, specifically AJ, when fans compare him to Bruno.
I hate the term brawling, Duran was a brawler according to casuals, watch how Duran brawls with amazing head movement and clever punching, the same as another master counter/pressure fighter, Mike Tyson.
Lewis could be sloppy & lackadaisical but fortunately for him, recovered sufficiently to knock Briggs around & stop him, which he should have done, resulting in a good though not great performance.
That smile b4 the knockdowns was priceless, after the shaky first round, I think it was a fantastic performance
