Usyk has apparently told the Kiev Independent

that he is seriously considering retirement.

    (-Reports need confirmation).

    Your thoughts?

I take all of these articles with a pinch of salt but if and when he does start talking like that it's probably best to.. once you have one foot out the door it's clear it's time to call it.. his Legacy is assured now he can walk away with a perfect career. What's the point in fighting on? Start your own gym build a new generation.

He seems to be a very well balanced family guy - so that could see a certain degree of deference to his wife’s wishes (whatever they are) and consideration of the immediate and potential later impact on his kids if he continues.

Notably, it seems in more recent times that he has spoken that much more about the drudge of his spartan commitment to the game over many years (including what he has missed out on, on the home front). - sounding like he is somewhat over it - but then some much needed R & R could see him possibly change his tune.

I think he’ll continue. He’s in the big leagues now money-wise. He made almost $100 million for Fury 2. Why not milk a few good paydays before retiring?

Too much money to retire. He has keys to the kingdom right now

After many years slugging away in other fighters hometowns. Likely for peanuts here he is potentially one of the sports highest earners.

I would say it's unlikely. In the space of a few months, he has said he's going to cruiser, might fight MMA, he might do more movies, he might go to WWE, he has to think about it, he'll fight Dubois, he has to take time to see...so what if he throws retirement on the pile?

Usyk doesn't know what he is going to do next, but I think its going to involve boxing, and I would say that, if Dubois wins, there is no chance he walks away from that after how DDD insulted him.

and what does a boxer retiring even mean? How many times have some of these guys retired only to not actually be retired?

Some posters think he peaked like Mike Tyson, roughly at 19-21, but because he's so much greater, he's been fighting THIS LONG past his prime and each victory thereafter is so much greater than anything any other heavyweight has ever achieved that it is frankly astonishing he hasn't been put in charge of Ukraine. If not all of Europe.

Doubt he will tbh, still more for him to do.

Bit sad seeing those eager for him to retire though.
